HI!EVERYONE!In the universities of my country, many male students are addicted to a computer game named dota(the defence of the ancients),some of them even spend more than 10 hours on it everyday!
I have heard from the internet that dota is not very popular in the other countries, intead, LOL(league of legends)is being loved by many people,is that true?

DotA = Defense of the Ancients, just to clarify it. It's normal that most male love this game, some used it for temporary escaping a problem, entertainment, and other reasons. There are what we call professional gamers, if you didn't know many players don't only play for fun but for their living. Most are DotA players, if you know, there is Dota 2 and a tournament called "The international" where the prize pool is 1 million dollars. That's why DotA players, or not only them but also most gamers are doing their best to be at the top.

Its for the first time that I am hearing about DOTA and LOL for you and only you can explain what it is all about. I have heard of role playing games on internet like trivana and others. But never heard of this stuff. I know there are many others including red light Alert.
I never played role paying games online as most require subscription and have to pay for some interesting stuff. So I believe that I buy a good PC game CD and play real time games without any extra subscription fees that are huge if it counts to a year or so.

this game has been popular in my country years ago.. lots of students got addicted to this. this is the reason that the government implemented a law that no students are allowed to be in a internet cafe during school hours. because they end up not going to school the whole day. they spend a awful lot of hours playing this game. now, there are lots of games that the students got addicted to.

I used to be a Dota addict too in the past, but i have quit it since two years ago. And i doubt its true that LOL is more popular in other countries. In the first place, Dota comes first before LOL. LOL is created because Dota is so popular, that many people tried to create more games that is similar to it. Right now there are LOL, HON, Dota2 all trying to imitate Dota. Since Dota is not getting any updates recently i guess people have no choice but to jump over to newer games. But Dota is still popular even for now, just that less popular than when it first started

I've heard of it and I believe I played it at one point, though it never really stuck with me. I'll probably play it again when DOTA 2 is released- that one looks interesting. In the meantime, yes, I've been playing LoL instead. They're both fun, but I wouldn't really call either of them very addicting.

Dota is the first generation game of the kind like LOL, Heroes of Newerth. LOL is vastly known throughout the countries because they are free too play and have no restrictions like Heroes of Newerth that can only be played by people who are living in north america and europe, the other countries have made their own servers, but they are not as update like the original server.

Well, I used to be one of those male students who are addicted to that computer game. I used to spend 10 or more hours a day on it sometimes! But since I finished college, I never get to play much of it anymore. Only a few times when I get to play with friends which is quite rare judging by schedules and time. But now, it seems DotA is fading away with its touch to the gamers here. Some friends introduced me to League of Legends already too. Maybe DotA can be back to popularity if DotA two will hit market like the wave of the first version. But I don't know. It seems that my gaming nature back then had already vanished through my years. Now I am feeling too old to play it.

I do not used to spent much time for playing games on pc. It is just waste of time and along with it, spenting log time about 10 hours really affect our eyes. I just enjoy playing hands but i do not spent a lot of hours for it.
Anyway i will see the game. I hope i will have a good time with it.

yup. I do heard about that here in our country. It's the most popular game here in the Philippines that almost guy students became addicted to that game. It ranges from elementary students until working men. I saw what the game looks like but being a woman, I'm really puzzled about that game that no matter how I try to play it, I still couldn't get it. Well maybe it's just a guys game and I haven't seen girls who got addicted to that kind of game.
