I´m getting tired of murders, DNA and reality shows.

Some time ago, there were shows on TV for every taste and we could get unhooked from one show because there was another good one. Now all sorts of murders (fake and real) get much of the audience as it´s do realities. I feel that all this is brainwashing and bullsh*t. Who would be, for instance, willing to we "picked" to get married as if she were a cow and the man just a stud? And all that in front of a great audience. Money, of course, is a powerful ingredient to accept to be sold in such a way. Infirmities and illness of human beings shown on TV also cause me pain and anger.
Am I too old fashioned? I´d like to hear other ppoints of view here. Take care, friends.

Of course we all have our own preferences. That´s why I wish that programds were more balanced. The only twl movies I´ve seen on TV about romance these last months have been Pride and prehudice and Dirty dancing .Both have been on air MANY times. Before that, I learned by heart Stepmom. I´m sure they can make good shows with comedy, romance and wit.

I hope you like them. Stepmom is the kind of sugary-crying type of movie we women like. It´s well done. As for Dirty dancing, I think it´s awesome!

They have certainly wore the reality show thing out. There are reality shows about everything on now...on every channel. Once something "works" they wear it out. I am not one to watch reality shows. When I watch TV, I do it to to get away from reality..lol.

Besides, reality shows are anything BUT real. But I do like a little bit of the fairy tale on shows, or sitty people to think about. I have more than enough with people like myself

I don`t quite agree with you. I think that most people are normal, but they can be brainwashed into accepting a dumb way of life. I don`t mean sophisticated shows all the time, although I like them a lot (But I see those movies at special cinemas where they never have Rambo 10, if you know what I mean). I`m sure that a good, normal, funny show would appeal to a lot of people.

There´not much yo wonder, I guess. I like to see a thriller once in a while, or to dry over a soap opera where I know the end. But that can´t be all there is to it. The world is a lot richer. I want some family shows where children (and parents) can learn to live together and see some values. I want to see some of what we glimpe of our different worlds while chatting here at my lot. I wonder if the people who make the shows think that the population is dumb or they want to do some brainwashing to male them dumb

Television have nothing ,such on it and even though I enjoy the some of the current shows , The older shows were much more quality with better actors. I hate reality shows like teen mom , I have never watch the show and I have friends recommending it to me as if I want to waste my time watching that crap .

It seems that now TV directors don`t spend any time thinking up an original show. And if it is a little more complex and human, it doesn`t last much.

hi friend, well i'm a little bit different, I still watch CI or crime and investigation channel, tru ( it's not reality but acutality) and if you would include history channel although some crimes there might be ancient, at times i watch it cause deep inside i feel we should learn in order to prevent being a victim.
I'm not too much into reality especially the dating and marriage ones although i watched those with cooking, top shot (about marksmen and different weapons)

I can already remember Kojak and Baretta friend, they call bald people here Kojak during those daysand bald was not yet fashionable, everybody sported long hair then. These were series right?, think earlier than than I also watched Hawaii five o ( still in black and white), loved the music by the "Ventures", so many more like CHIPS, Magnum PI,.... Yes it's very hard to think of a family show with values.

I remember those shows too. They still call here "Kojaks" those candies Kojak ate although I`m sure the young generation doesn`t know why they are called that way.

No, you're not too old fashioned! I think that there should be some limits on tv concerning the exploitaion of human life, pain and personal moments. Additionally, I think that all this might have been interesting for a big part of the audience when they first came out (for example the realities) and they had a totally new concept! Now they are predictable and sometimes when they are trying to make then more "unpredictable" they do things that are obviously based on a script. For me, it's hard to believe anything that's presented on the tv as a "true story". I think that everything that's shown is set up and very well designed.

Not at all. I think there'a lot of sensationalism these days of the worst side of society. Art follows life, people say. Well, just as too much of a good thing can be tiresome, so can too much of the bad, if not even more, in my opinion.
I've never really bought into watching most reality shows, i.e. I see only a few episodes here & there whichever catches my fancy. These are sometimes edited to portray some people falsely, so you can't really say these are "reality" shows. On top of that, the subjects aren't all that interesting. Bachelor/Bachelorette?, the Big Brother, Survivor, Hell's kitchen, etc. - how much of these can you stomach?
Talent/singing/dancing shows fare better with me, but not all the time.
Unfortunately, I find very few good shows on TV. Better look for good movies instead on DVD. You get to choose what you want to watch, & when.

The problem is that, in fact, I think I cannot "stomach" even one of those shows. I often wonder who likes them, for whom are they made. There are so many ideas of shows, not that sophisticated either, that could be liked by a vast audience yet be better.

I couldn't agree with you more. I guess that is one reason I don't watch tv any more. I only catch a glimpse of something when I am at the hospital or clinic since they always have one on. I got fed up with the choices about 10 years ago...maybe more so I don't even bother with having one any more. I think the current generation enjoys the garbage they come up with now, but I say they don't make them like they used to. Too much violence and profanity now.

I DEb. I don´t feel I´m a prude, but I do think there should be a balance in the TV shows. I want some family shows where children (and parents) can learn to live together and see some values. It is not that I want all of the other shows banned (although I´d ban some of them). I am sure that we cannot blame that on the current generation: they see what it is fed to them as people eat junk bood because it´s easier to get than an apple.

I watch the game show channel alot. Most of them are re-runs but at least there's no blood & guts, fat people & women w/their boobs hanging out. I'm so tired of seeing boobs.

My husband and I got rid of cable television for just this reason. Most of what was on just wasn't what we were interested in watching. Once we eleminated the habit of watching the 'best of the worst' offerings, we were much happier. I read a lot more now, and pick books in a variety of subjects that I really enjoy. We also rent movies that we both want to see from the library, free of charge. We do recieve television via a small outdoor antenna and are lucky to receive two channels that offer 'oldies' television shows and movies. All in all, we don't miss the monthly bill and paying for what we didn't want to watch.

I have a combo that includes phone, a "light" cable TV (fewer channels) and internet. I found out some time ago that it was the least expensive way to have internet, but I´d like to get a little something out of the cable TV. I have no such lick. Once in a while I can see a good movie, but usually they give it so many times that I learn them by heart of faall asleep while watching them.

I do have to admit that I am getting pretty tired of all of the murders that are on the television these days. However, that doesn't mean that I don't still watch the CSI shows. The reason that I really like watching those is because of the science that is involved with them. You see, I am a scientist through my college education so that is something that always has been and always will be something that is really, really interesting to me.
Now with a lot of the reality shows, I would just assume leave them because there is really nothing about them that is real.

I liked the CSIs very much at the beginning. What I don`t understand is that they will run the show for the rest of our lives so that we learn by heart how Horatio repeats his sentences and the final embrace to the boy or girl at the end. The same happens with all the shows and you and I know that prints and DNA are not as easy to gfather in real life.

hi marguicha! I am surprised because I thought that only our country produces those typical teleseries and telenovelas which have a predictable stories and characters. I actually hate those dragging tv series that are being extended because of good ratings. Extended airing means another antagonist character and another annoying scene in here.

Many countries produce the telenovelas and soap operas ánd my country is not an exception. But I was thinking about those kind of shows that have the same main characters, but there´s a complete chapter every time. Such are the shows like CSI and other american shows that I see on cable TV. Unfortunatly, the amount of needless violence and lack of new ideas is pityful.

You cannot control what shows on tv, these things you say you do not like is getting millions of positive reviews from viewers and they are making lots of money from it, so they ll keep making it available for us all to see.

I wish someone would show them they are too dumb to be liked by the normal population. I think that the TV people treat us as if we were morons
