How do you value your going to church?

I think in most religions, going to church at least once a week is a requirement and it goes the same with my religion. My family has always practiced going to church at least once a week and we value that very highly because that is the moment where we could give our full dedication to God and to express our faith. We have this belief that ultimately the most important thing in life is your faith and relationship with God, so that is why going to church has become the most important part of our week. I could also say that we can find in our church the highest types of prayers and because we pray together with our community, our prayers even becomes stronger and the unity between our community are strengthened. How about you, how do you value your religion and your going to church?

Well in my case, It is pretty bad if I don't make it to church every sunday. Many times I am unable to, and people look at me strangely. My take is that it is important, but If you are really unable to make it to church that week, then no harm is done.

Yes, and I think what is important is one's effort to go to church so at times it won't be possible for us. I myself miss church going once in a while on some Sundays due to particular reasons like being ill, not feeling well and missing out due to scheduling mistakes or time miscalculation. But I don't see God condemning me for that. I just try to go there again next week and if I have time, I go to confession because my religion have this kind of sacrament.

Me, personally, I have a hard time trusting a church. It has to do with personal experiences that I had that made me think about what was going on. I don't have anything against religion, though I admit, I am not a part of any particular religion. I just don't like having that label attached to me. It's that defiance side of me that is overwhelming. As for going to church, I have a problem with people who try to preach to me how I need to live better, and what I am doing wrong, and what standards I need to live by when their own house isn't in order. I had this problem rear its head on me one time, and I almost paid for it dearly. My family is associated with a church, but there is a strong word going around that it is tied to some political corruption, and if that is the case, we will leave it as well. I rather have a personal connection to God, not someone broker it for me.

I do believe in the saying that your religion will not be the one to save you, so I believe for some people it might be just having a personal relationship with God in their own way, or simply showing this relationship through actions by loving others and living a good life without stepping on other people. I know that for others, their circumstances also didn't allow them to be in a church like those natives living in deep forest but I believe God still finds a way to let these natives worship him, maybe through nature or in their conscience and others. I believe God is so big that he finds a way to love all people, no matter what his background is, his state in life, surroundings and experiences and even his religion or his having none of it.

I am very glad, and happy that you and your family value your church experience so highly. However just because you place such a value on your religious experience is no reason to suggest that others would, or even should, follow your example. Its never been proven that prayers or religious experiences will strengthen unity between communities, and or God. Church attendance has been easing off for many years, and nothing untoward has happened that might make church attendance the most important thing in our lives!

I respect your opinione, barehugs and I know that people would have different opinions about this so I don't expect everyone to have the same ideals or beliefs about church-going. It's sort of a personal thing for me and my personal 'inner experience' which is of course hard or impossible to prove to others that they do exist :)

For one week, I always go to church because it's one hour to reflect and pray to God'd blessings to us.

I also attend the church at least every Sunday. I read somewhere before that the prayers in the church is one of the highest types of prayers, so I guess this is one reason why it's important for our spiritual health to go there and participate at least once a week. This is once again only my personal opinion and anyone is free to think and do what he or she feels is right for him or herself.
