Hi punkgirl! I remember a phrase that goes, "If you want to get rid of a friend, lend him money." Well, personally, if I have something in excess, I just can't say no to anybody, whether a friend or not. Although it is really true that once you give out something, there is a possibility that you can not get it back. But true, I never learned. So, most of the time, I am being victimized by people who wants to take advantage of others.

As a rule, I only loan money to friends with an amount that I wouldn't miss if ever I didn't see it back again. If there is something that can quickly dissolve a friendship, that is money matters. As a friend, I don't want them to think I don't care, but practicality dictates that I watch out for myself as I am not sure if I will be able to depend on anyone should I fall short on my budget.

I don't borrow money..it makes it tough on the relationship if they can't or won't pay you back. I don't think a real friend would expect you to anyway....none of mine would.

First, I would not "loan" a friend money! If I had it to give, I would give the money to my friend. That's what friends do! If you don't have the money to give to a friend, then it's a loan. But, why loan a friend money, when they're obviously your friend. Send them to a bank if you want them to borrow money. True friends give out of the goodness of their heart.

I would and it would seriously depend on the situation. For now I have not many friends. If I have lot of money then definitely I will give and will not expect it back as well. thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day.

that would depend on if they would pay me back. to a really good friend, i have no problem helping them out free of charge. for someone that just keeps on asking me for money, i demand being paid back with no delays otherwise i am just going to hang onto my money.
