You will need to have the initiative and the inner strength to do so.And depending on what type of business it it you may need the financial resources to do so.I have researched to find out the laws as far of having to get a liscense or permit to do that particular type of work in my county or state.You should also research about your tax rules.Believe me you don't want to end up owing taxes or being prosecuted for not having the proper credentials for your business! Not fun! And things can change.About thirty years ago I sold Avon and did not have to pay self employment taxes.In this state if you do not make more then $600 in a years time you do not have to pay income taxes on it.However about fifteen years ago when my mother had got into selling Avon(I had quit)she had to pay self employment taxes of $300 a month! On the average that left her earning about $60 a month and she still had pay her expenses.....gas,catalogues,order books,etc. My mother is on social security and they are still taking money from her check saying that they had over paid her during the time she was selling Avon,even thou she had to give most of it to the state and IRS!

You could be the most brilliant and thoughtful person but that doesn't assure you of success. There is a concept in business called the DNA lottery as ones success is determined not just by skills and connections but also on when you are born, is the world ready for you today or not. Work hard and never give up and you will be fine.

It doesn't take a lot out of a person to start their own business, but it can take a lot of resources to keep it going, including many hours your time. Of course exactly what it takes depends on what kind of business you start.
