I consider myself to be a good cook, have been told many times i was but i have just gotten tired of my cooking & everything i have to cook..I very seldom go out to eat, first it's expensive & i don't & want go out to eat by myself, that's no fun,. I had to get out today to pick up meds at the drugstore so went by my favorite hamburger place[wendy's] & picked me up a burger & fries for my supper. It really tasted good for a change. What is your favorite burger place?

hi dear Antiquelady we dont have all these nice Burger places you got in the US, we only have McD and BurgerKing and I prefer BurgerKing. Their stuff is sooooo much better. LOL, but I dont get there often as I am diabetic and have to watch the carbs.

I have to agree with you that Burger King is much better than McD!
Wow! No burger joints where you are! Do your native restaurants serve burgers at all?

When you cook a lot or around a lot of food, sometimes a good sandwich is the real ticket for a meal.

Oh yes, I have tired of my own cooking, actually tired of having to cook, long ago. Also, I work in the food service industry, so maybe this is why I no longer like to cook.
I do enjoy dining out but I don't do so often (for financial reasons). When I do treat myself to eating in a restaurant I usually take a good book with me to read, too.
My favorite place to get a burger is right down the road from where I live. It is called Kingy's Pizza Pub. Sometimes I eat in and other times I get it to go and eat the food in the comfort of my home.

Thanks for responding. I imagine working w/food all the time u would get to feeling like that.I can relate to why u don't eat out often, same reason here. I couldn't believe what i had to pay for a burger & fries, ridiculous but i did enjoy the splurge, lol.

RitterSport, when I make homemade meatballs I bake them in the oven also as I do not like them fried.
Antiquelady, working with food really does ruin your appetite for a love of cooking. And I currently work in a pizza and sub shop, which is ruining my love for my favorite takeout food--pizxza!

hi dear abitosunshine, I dont really miss burgers as I am more into Turkish cooking and we have quite a number of Turkish restaurants/takeaways.
Am not too fond of burgers anyways and like it better to make my own meatballs. Seasoned with finely chopped onion, lots of cayenne pepper and a dash of salt. Not fried but baked in the oven.........

Yes, sometimes i get tired of my cooking. It seems that they all taste the same already.
Eating burger once in a while, is one thing that i do too. It's cheaper although they say it's not a healthy food. But i don't care, because it's only once in a while.

i can cook, and it's OK, but there's nothing like a meal prepared by somebody else! I LOVE to go out to eat and I feel for you about the eating alone part. If there's one thing I can't get myself to do is eat alone in a restaurant. My father used to do it a lot and it always made me feel bad for him but as it turns out he was having a grand time flirting with the waitresses. They all knew him, some sat down with him.
I'm not saying this would work in your case but you'd be surprised on how many friendly people there are. Maybe if you sat at a bar of a restaurant?? I sometimes just order take out and bring it home.
But back to the question....geez...umm..Five Guys was good for burgers. My real favorite is a local restaurant/pub so it wouldn't help anybody unless you're from the Capital Region of NY.

I like Braums, which is regional, only in five states. Hubby likes Wendy's but the last burgers we had were from DQ and they were good, not too expensive. Now you have done it though, you have made me hungry. I tried a new recipe yesterday and there are leftovers calling my name right now.

OH...dear Jo, the only way I can respond to this one, is with a sense of humour!
a)My favourite take-out---MY FREEZER..LOL!
And the reason, for that...we have NO, "take-outs"! SO, my favourite take out.."take out of Shirley's freezer!" I do, at all times keep a variety of frozen foods; I have quick things to make, like pre-made burger patties, salmon patties, teriyaki chicken, pulled pork--and then home-made meat pies..spaghetti sauce..Lots of choices...So, I have to be content with my cooking!
Yes, I could ring up the Pub..and get Fish 'n Chips..or burgers to go..BUT I worked there in the kitchen, prepping, this past winter and spring, and I am NOT sold on the quality..NOR the handling of their food! Meets Health standards..but NOT mine! SO, for me being picky, I have ruled out "take out" food!
But I do wonder, if I would avail myself if it were here...and YES, I do NOT like going out alone! Take care my friend...HUGZ & LUV!

Morning, dearheart....(am going into work a bit late this morning, 5:30)!
AS it is for you, my friend...as long as the MEN in our life figure we are the best cooks in the world...that makes us happy! I am NOT "Masterchef"..but content with my abilities...as you are with yours, as we know how to make tasty substantial food! And that keeps the "tummy smiling!"LUV & HUGz

I don't get tired of eating my cooking, I just get tired of cooking and can't afford some of the things I really want, and don't always feel like making them. We eat McDonald's a bit more often than we should because of it. What I may do sometimes is make something quick and easy for the kids then after they're in bed hubby and I will have McDonald's.

Sometimes its worth it to pay for a meal elsewhere. I love going out to eat and it doesn't mean I am a bad cook. I like to let my daughter have an occasional break cause she does the cooking now. Ya, I retired. I nolonger cook, clean or stress at work. I am a retired, depressed individual. I have given her alot of my recipes though and she does a good job.

I don't eat fast food, and the only burgers I eat these days are of the non-meat variety. We did go out to a nice local restaurant for dinner Friday night and had some decent veggie burgers. I think, though, that I will stick to ordering some of their other dishes there; the burgers were okay, but they just weren't anywhere near as good as some of the restaurant's other fare.
We are fortunate in that we are surrounded by good restaurants where we're at. Quite a few of them have very good food at prices that are not much more than what people typically spend at fast food joints.

I do get bored with my cooking sometimes, do like to go out for dinner once in a while to get away from cooking. I don't particularly like burgers though, I could eat it but that is not my first choice so I don't know where sells the best burgers. Besides, I like to cook for somebody than eating my own cooking.

Thanks for responding. U can't beat a good burger every once in awhile in my opinion. If i go ouit to a restaurant i prefer some kind of seafood. Haven't done that in a long time. We are not blessed w/a whole lot of good places to eat here.

People may get bored for anything. Just consider yourself as a really great cook and always create new ideas for cooking. I think maybe sometimes try different new places outside to eat is a change and i have to say my favourite burger place is burger king.

Oh I hear ya! Yes, I do get tired of my own cooking and sometimes we do need a change. I even bought a couple of new cookbooks on auction that were very reasonably priced, and were on lowering my cholesterol and fat content. Some of the recipes are pretty darn good. What I liked though, is that they gave me some new ideas so it helped.
I love, absolutely love, Burger King, lol! That is my favorite because I like the charcoal taste. This will happen maybe once every six months if I'm lucky. I just don't have too much extra money to spend on eating out like some people do.
I also want to get an smokeless indoor grill since I live in an apartment and can't grill out. But I probably would add that smoke flavor stuff to the cooking to make it taste yummy. Either way, I'm sure eventually I'll get tired of that too, lol!

Yes, it is very boring. I'm the only one here too and many days I only make up something really quick for myself. Unfortunately, I do love food though, and have all my life. I was never overweight until now (gained around 8 pounds) because I quit smoking last May. That's hard because I'm not happy with the weight gain, grrr. And it seems I'm ALWAYS hungry now, don't like that either.

I hate to cook, and don't consider myself a very good cook. I blame that on my husband who only likes plain foods. Ever time I'd try to spice something up, he'd complain. It's worse now that he has stomach problems. As to my favorite hamburger place, I don't have one. My husband used to like Arby's, but he won't even go there since an employee sliced off part of his finger and left it in meat served to a customer.

I know what you mean, Jo. I love to cook, but I love to have something different once in a while. But I don´t like at all to go alone to eat out. I feel very lonely and don´t have any fun either. Fortunatly, my friends take me out for diner once in a while to pamper me as I pamper them inviting them to diner at home.
I already told here that my best moment during my vacations was when we went for diner at a french restaurant with our new friends. Even though the food was delicious and served in a way I couldn´t have done, the best was the conversation and the exchange of ideas. I´m posting a picture of that occation. You can see how happy my canadian friend was. We all had fun.

I have always loved to cook, done it well, and enjoyed the fruits of my labor.
But there have also been times when I tired of my own cooking, and they seem to be increasing as I age.
Cooking is hard work and a lot of effort.
Even though I enjoy and excel, it's difficult to be as excited as I once was.
Trying out new recipes helps for just a bit, but I seem to be "running dry".
Eating out is way too expensive, but seems to be a luxury with benefits, since someone else does the work. Even though I can do as well or better most of the time, it's the "treat yourself" factor that takes over, sort of like a "mini-vacation" from the chores of life.
My favorite burger place is In-N-Out, where I am going just today after my appointment with the eye doctor! I'm glad you asked.

I'm back, but my eyes are still dilated. It took away somewhat from my enjoyment of the food because I don't feel comfortable eating with my glasses on.
However, I still ate all of my burger and fries.
In-N-Out is a CA chain to my knowledge, but I heard one just opened in TX.
Don't know where you are.
Actually we were supposed to have an In-N-Out open just down the street from me, but they put in a Wendy's instead.
Guess it'll save me some weight gain.....

Hi! It has happened to me as well! Even if you get creative sometimes, you usually have to cook between your other routines every day and you get bored of repeating the foods that you cook! Is this what you mean?
Well, you can try another cuisine, like international recipes that are easy and they taste so different! You might as well try and make your favourite hamburger at home! This way you can eat your fav food without spending money from eating outside! When I was in uk I my favourite burger place was calles wetherspoons! I am not sure if I've spelled it correctly! In my country burgers aren't very famous, only in macdonalds you can eat a good one. I prefer ordering other kind of food, like sandwitch, greek gyros or pasta and eat at home if I don't want to cook one day!

Yes I most definitely do get tired of my cooking. But I am lucky because I only have to cook during the week. I don't normally cook on the weekend but once in a while most weekends my fiance does the cooking. My favorite burger place would probably be burger king over McDonald's and Wendy's too. If I go to McDonalds I usually get a chicken sandwich, if I go to Wendy's I normally get baked potato and if Hardees usually get chicken tenders. But I don't eat out much at all.
