When I first heard about the series wasn't sure it would be a good choice to read, as I really hate to see something bad happen to my favorite characters. In this book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins we see the life of Katniss Everdeen and she clearly led a hard life having to bring home food by hunting for it to fed her mother and sister.
We soon know that its going to get a lot harder when her sister Prim is drawn in the first year possible, so Katniss goes to the annual Hunger Games. She is joined by Peeta, who is the bakers son and really has had an easier life. We meet Gale, who hunts with Katniss and learn a little about other people in the area.
There are 12 districts and each sends 2 people. Only one person can win, so we know its going to hard when people we like don't survive. In this case, I liked the characters from one other district and was looking forward to learning about that district.
Have you read the book or pan on reading it?

My 11 year old daughter introduced the books to me last winter. She read all three in a week, it took me longer to get through them. I loved them!!! We agreed that we wouldn't see e movie until I finished all three books. So we bought the movie last night and had family movie night. My husband and 15 year old daughter hadn't read the books. We all enjoyed it very much and can't wait for the second one to come out. I liked the books more because there was so much more detail in the books.
The cashier at target did try to ruin the movie for us, when we told her we hadn't seen the movie yet. Which I thought was so wrong, why do people do that??? I personally never try to do that to people.
I'm still undecided on whose team I am on!!! I think I will stay with Team Edward! LOL

LOL about Team Edward. I like Edward also. The actor that played the role was great. I haven't seen the movie yet. I have only read one of the books and will start the next one soon. Thanks for posting.

The book had a lot of violence and parts of it were hard to understand why people thought that way about the topic. Its not for everyone and I will admit I normally read a lot of cookbooks and mysteries. Thanks for posting.

I haven't read the books or seen the movie. Having heard tons about it I thought about seeing the movie. But I had definite opinions about which guy she should end up with (I know men aren't the point of the series) since I do not like one of those male actors. So before I invested my time I asked someone who had read the books who Katniss ended up with. And the answer was the actor I did not like. So I'll pass. But it's nice to see Jennifer Lawrence do well. Seems like yesterday she was on a TV show with Bill Engvall!

I was glad to know Jennifer Lawrence played the role and felt she was a great choice. I suspect she ends up with the same person in the books and movie and I know you don't like him. I'll watch the movie before the end of the year and tell you what I think of him. Thanks for posting.
