It's fun Buying up-to date electronic gadgets, fashionable clothes, accessories, shoes and many more. Whether we have been affected by the decline in the world's economy or not, we can benefit from considering ways we can save as well as ways you can spend wisely. Wisdom is for a protection the same as money is. But money can't protect us if we have not saved any. So How can we save money?.
First, before buying an expensive item, consider whether it's really necessary.
Second, if you need something search for new items that are on sale or for good used items..:)
Third, don't be impulsive, sleep on the matter. If you still feel that the item is vital, you may consider looking for something similar is a discount or second hand shop. Fourth, consider that it usually costs less to buy ingredients and cook meals than it does to eat out. If you have school-age children, why not teach them to prepare sandwiches instead of giving them money to buy more expensive food?
To be a happy saver, we must know how to manage your money...:)

The only way to save money is to cut down your expenses so that your expenditure is always lower than your earning. There is no other way known to me.

good for you for knowing where and how to save money! buying the latest and greatest of anything may be fun but not if you are using a credit card. i would cut them up except one which you would need to book hotels, etc.
also, see what free services your city offers. for us, it is the library where we can borrow books, movies, games, music, etc all for free!

It is a very good discussion and I have learned so much from it. One of my ways to save money is to do online shopping for some cheap things. You can always find something cheap online and you can easily compare those things that you plan to buy. Thanks very much for the discussion.

Since I have become a home maker, I realized it is a lot of expenses every month. I like to cut coupons, I collect them from the newspaper, on the internet; I find samples here and there. I don't have the air conditioner stays on all day, I shut off the light when it is not needed etc and that way it is good for the environment also. Besides, I keep an eye on the sales, I go food shopping and household shopping where it has the best price for dollars each week.

Hi,
We should save money for future. We can save money by reducing expenses in small things. You are rightly mentioned the ways of reducing expenditure and managing the money. We unnecessarily spend our money on expensive food, going to movies, buying costly clothes. Going to shops which are offering discounts is a good option for saving.

I think it is that you buy something because it is useful and do not listen to those who think you are buying it because it is the latest thing. My take is if you want something to do a specific thing or things, you wait until that has been invented and then you buy it. First however, you save up for that. For instance, if you want something that you can carry around with you, get information, and also can do writing on it without plugging in a keyboard, and it was several years ago, you do not get something that can carry with you, but only shows pictures, you did not buy the first iPad, but wait until the one we have now.
I also think that when buying something on sale, often at the end of the year, they put things on sale, for instance, electronic items, but it is something that is going out of stock. So the best thing to do is toe buy when the item is introduced. You get it cheaper. Of course, you have to research it first.

I tried to make the bookkeeping everyday, even if i bought a bottle of water, i wrote it down
in my cellphone. One month later, i indeed knew clearly of each cost. But the action was no effect on me. Finally, i opend a savings account in bank, kept my idle money of six-month or one year
maturities. It saves money!

We all are working hard for money, some times our earnings are not enough for us and we work hard to earn more. We have the ability to live a happy life with our earnings, if we organize our spending in a good way. We must be wise and spend our money for the needy things to live a happy life.
We must think twice before buying a product, there is nothing wrong in buying necessary items, but some persons will buy some modern items to show their status, we must surely avoid this kind of unwanted expenses. If we need a modern equipment and we don't have enough money to buy it, we can go for second hand items, it is for better than getting loan or borrowing money from other person to buy the new thing. There is nothing wrong in buying second hand items and we can find a lot of good things with it. We must avoid unwanted expenses.
Lot of deals and discounts are available during festivals and important time, we can buy our product in such times to save our money. We must avoid unwanted dinning outs and prepare food by our own to enjoy our self cooking activities. There is nothing wrong in dinning out once in a while, but some people are interested in frequent dinning out and spending a lot of money in fast food center we must surely avoid this habit to keep our health in a good manner.
Preparing budget and spending within the budget will help a lot in savings. Be wise and spend your money in a good way, don't spoil your health to increase your earning, if you organize your spending, you will save a good amount every month without more strain.

The latest item I bought is actually a macbook pro which of course costs a lot than any other laptops. I've been saving for this for years and though my sony vaio is still working well, I thought a lot whether it was really necessary for me to get a new one. To justify this expense, I gave my sony vaio to my son who has a computer class and he needs it plus the fact that I might be leaving the country soon and when I checked out the price of macbook pro in that country, it's about 30,000php more expensive. So there goes my justification.
I'm trying to save as much as I can though.

the simplest way to save money is to know your "needs" and "wants". We know that needs are basic things that a person should have therefore which are his/her priorities like food. Wants are only external things which is optional in our life. An example would be a cellphone, it's better to have a simple cellphone to save money since your only going to use it for calling or texting important things to your friends or family, if you're going to buy an expensive one and you're only gonna use it for entertainment like games then you can't save money.
@litvillegas (1274)

That is indeed true bLadeee. I agree that knowing the things that we "need" is more important than spending money all our "wants".. Thanks and have a great day

Yes, with the ecnomic downturn sweep the globe, more and more people find the money is not enough. For example, in my family we must pay for mortgage, car loan and necessiaries of life. we cannot save any money before. But we don't know where is our money? we don't buy luxury goods and not travel. But nothing to left.
What's wrong with my money? After the baby came to our family, we decide to cut down our expenses. Firstly, keep accounts,(Sorry for my broken english, hope you can understand, it means write down the money you spend). for one month, you will be surprised that you spend so much money and perhaps more than you might think. Analyse the spending and find the part is not necessary. Reduce the extenses month by month.
I hope it can be useful for you.
