Badrinath has been selected in place of VVS who announced his retirement from International cricket. Not only is he 30-plus, but he has been tested already..He is a good player at domestic level but unfortunately does not seem to fit at the highest level.
Badrinath should thank N.Srinivasan, Chairman ,BCCI who hails from the same state.I feel that Badrinath doesn't have the technique to survive at the highest level and he cant even handle swing properly.
So my question is when does these kind of biased selection end?

I accept that the selection of India squad is not going on right path.
But I think its ok to give a chance to Badri, he had played only 2 test matches.
Those matches was against SA in 2010 feb, after he was not given ant chance.
If he was not given chance now, then Rohit would have selected, so I think Badri would be better than him.

X,Y ,Z should have been given a chance instead of Badrinath as he is out of form

this is test match, a new young player won't be given chance directly to test squad.
If this was an ODI squad, India should have got many other players.

ya Badrinath has given some chances and had not performed very well. and we should have tried some youngster to build a good team for the future.
This is all because of a particular state in BCCI and the selection procedure.
And in today's news and all i heard that, Laxman announced his retirement before playing the matches as a protest to selectors.
Actually he was working hard to get back his form and then play in Test till the end of this year.
but the selectors announced the team and one of the selectors called him and told that this is your retirement series. this made him disappointing and announced his retirement, our selectors are not at all fair to seniors who have done a a lot to Indian cricket..
Now with this selection, it is very much clear, what was their aim?

The selectors should have given VVS the chance to announce his retirement and he is a gentleman to really know his form and to announce retirement...but why was Badrinath selected? Is it because N.Srinivasan is the chairman of BCCI or is it because Kris Srikkanth is the Cheif Selector or is it because Badrinath plays for Chennai Super Kings whose owner is N.Srinivasan & its captain is Dhoni

:) Tell this to poor Badrinath who has been consistently performing at the Ranji level. Having said that I think he will make the squad but might not get a chance to play in my opinion. But at this juncture I would rather have him in the team than Rohit Sharma who is woefully out of form. I think in the actual team though Pujara might play in place of VVS Laxman. So it could be an exciting young team playing in this test series for India.
Cheers!

Yes, I am also agree with you. But I am not in doubt with the talent that Badrnath has got, rather I would have to say about his age. Laxman, Dravid, Ganguly etc were made to retire saying that young players should also get time to play and to be experienced. But replacing a 32- year old player for Laxman doesn't seem that will help the youngsters. Then what is this retirement for? Therefore it would be better if we give enough chance for the talented guys to retire.

the main point was that youngsters should replace these FAB FOUR(SACHIN , DRAVID, LAXMAN & GANGULY)...but replacing with Badrinath is quiet surprising...but expected as N.Srinivasan who is the chairman,BCCI and Kris Srikkanth, cheif selector are both from the state of Tamil Nadu as is Badrinath.

Today there was an article in Deccan Chronicle criticizing Dhoni for being inaccessible. If they are too accessible then it becomes difficult to say no I dont want this person on my team, after all, it is perceived as some sort of betrayal of friend. Choice is between betraying friend or country. I understand where Dhoni's loyalties lie. People should hang their boots when they feel they are not able to do justice to their position in the team, instead of preventing others from getting chance when they are in prime. It would be nice if such departing players would suggest the most suitable players as their replacement.

I think its people who run BCCI who have made Dhoni inaccessible... as you say Dhoni might be a part of it too ...whatever it is Badrinath is not at all a good replacement

I too think that it is not a good decision by the selection committee to replace VVS Laxaman by Badrinath. I think the selectors have already given chance for him a couple of times. Anyway, this is the best opportunity for him to have some good innings and to impress the selectors .
