Third world countries are having trouble with the continuous increase of population of smokers. Before we can see only men smoking but nowadays even girls are somking too.Worse is that sometimes minors are really the one being addicted.
How can we slowly minimize this growth of their population?
In what way you can be part of the solution and not with the problem?

I will start with my own family. If i don't smoke, my husband don't smoke, then my son doesn't have the right to smoke? If we start with our own selves first and within our family, that is already a big contribution.
Why do people smoke anyway? At what age do they start smoking? So you see if i set a good example with my son and he knows as young as he is that smoking won't do him good and i have instilled in his mind that it's something that he shouldn't do, then i think i've done my part. I couldn't just go telling other people to stop smoking.
None of my siblings are smoking and thanks to our beloved mother for that. That's what good parenting could do.

We all know smoking is a bad habit and it is injurious to our health, but still some persons are interested in it as well as addicted with smoking. They intentionally spoil themselves with this cruel habit. The shocking news is, now a days school going students are interested in smoking and started their smoking activities early as soon as possible. Girls are also interested in smoking and thought that it is the recent trend.
Previously men only interested in smoking and keep up this habit to reduce tension, but now a days women's are also addicted with smoking and use this habit to come out from their stress and depression. I feel pity for the women's whoever have this cruel habit. Even some pregnant women's are smoking in their maternity time which affects the unborn babies a lot.
We have the ability to give up this bad habit with our determination. All the persons whoever have this habit must come forward to give up. We don't get any benefits with smoking. Parents of the kids will take care of them and watch each and every activities to avoid their son/daughter to get addicted with this habit.
Government already have some rules against smokers and they must execute this rules strictly and ban smoking it will reduce the increase of the smokers.

I know smoking is huge in the united states but with third world countries being so poor I never would expect them to be a lot of smokers. Maybe they grow their own. I smoked for 3 years when I was a teenager. I am very glad I quit. I hope that the three years I smoked wont cayse me to get lung cancer someday. I think stopping decreases my risk a lot. I think the best thing for people is to be educated about the negative effects of smoking.

Hi Daisy, Here in Canada the number of people smoking have actually been decreasing in recent years, although more women now smoke than men. When I was young, 60 years ago, it was strange to see a woman smoking. Smoking is not allowed in public buildings now, not even in bars and most people don't smoke in their houses, especially if they have children. I think the only way to stop it is an education program where everyone is shown just how dangerous it is to our health. Blessings.

Oh yes, i was shocked to see a group of young girls, smoking while walking.
I just hope it's for social smoking, meaning they do it just to be "in", but not that addicted to smoking.

This is so true. i do not understand why people smoke in the first place. Even in my university, people smoke a lot. I hope this epidemic would stop. We could take part in the solution by not smoking and influence others to not smoke. Smoking is bad for the health and it should not be an option to anyone.
