I am thinking of putting up an online business where people can order items like gadgets, accessories, clothing, etc. Will it still be feasible nowadays when there is multiply and a lot more online offering the same?
I will appreciate any insight you can share with me.

Yeah. It is still feasible. If you just figure out how to broadcast it through the internet so that a lot of customers will be attracted. You can also consider spreading it through word of mouth.

You know what your strengths are to want to put up an online business. If you have got the proper expertise, knowledge, products then you might consider going for the venture. You will need to build a very good website with a user friendly payout too.

Yeah, its feasible...I have an online shop as well for clothes and accessories, and there are a lot of competition, but my sales are still doing good. Just make sure that you have an edge from other shops. Like sell, one or two items that others don't have. And have some gimmicks for your shop like a weekend sale or buy one take one , freebies and stuff like that. Goodluck!

You should have learned also from your writing gigs, more than the monetary gain, knowledge is the supreme prize you should get from research and writing.

You can start an e-commerce site. There is a huge competition in this field now. So you should give exceptional customer service. You have to fulfil all the expectations of your customers. I am an avid reader. I use to order at least 10 books in a month. I use some of the e-commerce sites which are available in my country - India. Some sites give only 15-20% discount. Yet their shipping time is less than 2 days. But some sites give more than 40% discount. But I have to wait for more than 10 days to get the books. So I prefer to buy the books from those sites which can ship within 2 days. So if you start an e-commerce site, then you have to more discount and you should try to ship all the products within a short period. Everyone wants to get the products immediately. If you can fulfil your customers' expectations, then you can surely start an e-commerce site.

To start off with, try to look around for competition. I wouldn't advice a globally targeted site, because there are already a lot of them around. Your profile says that you are from Philippines, so see if there are any Philippines-based sites that might resemble yours in it's idea.
If there are a lot of them, try to bring something new to the table. If there aren't, go for it. It doesn't cost a lot to run such a website. All you have to do is sign up with major affiliate programs that you are targeting and put it up on your site. You can even do it with a WP blog!
