the swollen lymph node and raise of the platelet count is often cause by infection it can be virus, bacteria or else.but i can be tumor too.you must check at a more detail to the doctor for confirmation of the diagnosis

Has your grandson been around any cats? Has he been running a fever at all even just off and on? When my oldest son was four he had gotten scratched months and months before and he started running a fever. He at first just ran it off and on. Doctor gave him antibiotics but couldn't figure out what was wrong with him at first. Then one day the lymph nodes under his arm swelled up huge. Turns out he had cat scratch fever and after treating it with the right antibiotics and draining the infection from his lymph nodes he was just fine. His pediatrician said cat scratch fever is very hard for them to diagnose. I always try to warn people even if he had been scratched a long time ago it can take a while for it to get into his system. Even if that is not it with his platelet count being high it may just be a virus. One of my children had high platelet count for a couple weeks but it turned out to just be a virus and after it ran it's course his platelets went back to normal. I hope everything goes well with your grandson. Good luck

Thyank you snookms he has been to see a ENT A Oncologist and his primary care Dr. they keep telling us that he don't have Cancer or Leukemia but they can't tell us why his counts are up or why his lymph nodes are swollen. We just want some answers. I think anyone in our place would want the same thing JUST a ANSWER. HE WAS ON ANTIBIOTICS FOR 2WEEKS. With no change to his levels.

Sounds like the Dr.'s are keeping a close eye on it, they are the best people to ask about what is going on. Sometimes it would be Mono, or just a infection that hit his system, hope he feels better soon. I have a lymph node problem too.
