Manchester City started the season almost in a similar vein to how they closed the last season with a see saw victory over Southampton. Man City took the lead via a well taken goal from Tevez. But in matter of 10 minutes in the second half two super substitutes for Southampton scored within 3 minutes of coming onto the field to give Southampton an unlikely 2-1 lead. But Man City responded in a manner of Champions with goals from Dzenko and Samir Nasir ensuring a 3-2 victory for the Champions. It is going to be a very exciting title defense if this is a preview of things to come!! Cheers! Ram

I think that City has a great offensive power, like they had last year also, but a defense with many problems. I don't know who is too blame for this, the quality of the defenders or the coach, but City has shown many times last season also that they are always vulnerable in defending. I haven't seen the game, but I guess it was a thrilling game, especially the second half. As for the title race, I think it will be once again very close, and once again the two Manchester teams will fight for it.

It definitely was a thrilling match and as a soccer fan, I am not complaining. But you are right they have a lot going forward for them, but in their defense there are still gaps and that can be exploited by top teams. Cheers! Ram

With their fire power, I would expect them to qualify from the group stages. Once in the knockout anything can happen. Any teams that can exploit their defense with pace can beat them, provided their own defenses can keep the Man City attackers at bay. Cheers! Ram

From what you have seen, what do you think, do they have realistic chances for them to win the Champions League or to reach the final stages of the competition? I certainly hope they will be knocked out as soon as possible, but I doubt that they will not qualify from the group stages.

Rickie Lambert's goal was fantastic and it boosted - Rickie Lambert's goal was fantastic and it boosted the confidence of the Saints.
It was the most exciting 'live' match I watched in the season opening games. The suspense was just like the Manchester City vs QPR game last season. Kudos to Southampton for the way they played and pressed Manchester City so tightly the whole match. That equalizing Lampert goal was fantastic and had not been expected at all. I hope all coming matches will be that exciting with open attacks.

I was actually surprised that Lambert did not start the match. Probably the legs now do not have in them to play the full 90 minutes. But he simply sparked a spirit in Southampton something that we have seen Steven Gerrard do regularly at Liverpool or Rooney at Man United. It was really electric once he came on. But I guess Man City was just too strong. Cheers! Ram

BTW, I was irritated when Samir Nasri was given a yellow card for showing ID Mubarak after scoring a goal. Cheers! Ram

Yes, since he came in, the Southampton play suddenly became lively and the attack was purposeful. It was asking too much for them to beat Manchester City at the Etihad although they very nearly did take away some points.

But the manner in which they fought back was very good. I saw the match and going forward they have a lot going for them. But defensively, there are gaps and that can be exposed against top teams. Cheers! Ram

that`s why Mancini now seriously to tease DDR.. i really hate when Mancini say that what have DDR said is fool when he is still staying in Olimpico and follow what Totti do..Totti stays in Olimpico and get nothing.. how fool the manager said like that?? don`t he remember that when he is still player, he is nothing?? he is not legend for any club and if we compare one by one with Totti, he is nothing??

:) I think this is the unethical way of modern football. Managers tease players to give up loyalty for money and then complain that players are too greedy when their own players leave similarly!! Cheers! Ram

Yes, Manchester City won their first match. Anyway, I could say that it was a very good football match. There were some exciting moments. Eve though Southampton played well Manchester City was the final winner. Let us wait and see whether they can continue their good performance .

Yes, if this is how Man City is going to defend their title, then we are in for 37 great matches this season. :) Cheers! Ram

No, better don't. If the City guys keep winning the other 37 matches all by 3-2 margins, they will be champions again.

Manchester City opened the season with a disappointing though not their only victory mereaih thin. This is a good start to continue the campaign to retain the title EPL. But Manchester City must improve his game as Manchester United certainly do not want to lose the title again.

I think their defense has been dodgy all through and it was exposed in this match. But their attacking aspects were again on display as a warning for all teams around them. Cheers! Ram

Yes, they have match winners all over the park. So it is difficult to keep them from scoring. Cheers! Ram
