South Africa finally accomplished their mission to be no. 1 by beating England in the third test to win the series 2-0. Vernon Philander was the star for South Africa taking a 5 wicket haul in the English second innings to secure the landmark win for South Africa. Before that England led a nice fightback through Trott, Bairstow and Prior to give South Africa jittery moments. But South Africa did not choke this time and got the job done with the new ball!!
Cheers!
Ram

This is a great time for South Africa. They have won against a tough opponent and that too at their home. And I think South Africa would be a major force to reckon in the upcoming T-20 too.

Hi ram_cv, South Africa become the number one test team after winning the series against England for 2-0. Amla was awarded as the man of the series and Vernon Philander was the man of the match .

Gary Kirsten has done it again. With Donald as his bowling coach it will be tough to dislodge the Springboks from the top spot . We will see them dominate the T-20 in Sri Lanka. The interesting question is Will Gary be able to help them get rid of the 'chokers' tag'?

Yes. It remains to be seen if SA can hold on to this no1. spot. India seems to be regrouping and will mount a stiff challenge. I hope we are in for some thrilling and stirring stuff from team India. The ageing superstars have faded away and the new emerging icons will gently remind the maestro Sachin to move on and India will be ready to take on a resurgent Australia and Pakistan because these are the teams with real talent.I mean no offence to team England, England at best was a temporary stop gap pretender to the throne. England will take its rightful place somewhere in the middle after India, Australia Pakistan and SA(not necessarily in this order, there will be a tussle). WestIndies is also beginning to show some spark and fire and I think they are the ones who are going to go all the way in the T-20 world cup in Srilanka with Gayle, Bravo,Samuels the fast bowlers Roach, Edwards and Rampaul and the rookie spinner Narine and Bishoo and the last but the most reliable Chanderpaul(if he is still playing t-20).

They are deserved this ranking. They are the only team to perform consistently in home and away series in recent times. India and England have secured number spot only because of there home performence.
What will be there next mission? According to me removing the tag of 'The Chokers' ?
