hi urbandekay I tried to make sure that people undrstood my
discussion was humorous and said a f ew times this is not
serious, folks, its tongue in cheek, but a few people mostly
from other countries took it wrong and admonished me for
being flippant or simply told me please tell me what this is
about as I do not understand. so I was careful to explain
I was making a humorous discusson and was not serous at
all. again even here there are a few who have no sense of humpr
at all.so I explained as I went along commenting back.

I dont think that I have interpreted your discussions the wrong way. Yours are very specific and to the point.

Personally I think most people here know me pretty well so unless I am trying to be on a more humorous note for some reason people know that I am serious and take me that way. As far as I know I have never upset anyone or try too but there have been people here who have upset me maybe not always knowing they have done so.

I have trouble discerning humour at times. Even if i find it then I will usually write in a serious tone because I will type more that way. If i'm trying to be humorous then it usually won't last as long and I want the most from every post! I may poke fun every once in awhile but mostly I am just serious.
that is the trouble with writing though unless it is blatantly obvious we can miss the tone that was meant for humor.

One of the drawbacks of typing things on the Internet is that other people reading them cannot accurately judge the intent of the message. I think there are certain things which could be taken in different ways, perhaps resulting in this confusion.
By the same token, I think there are ways to try and avoid this confusion. Maybe by typing a small indicator (such as if you you are typing something sarcastic, at the end you could type /sarcasm to use an HTML reference). Also don't take it the wrong way if someone doesn't understand exactly what you meant, it'll happen whether you want it to or not.

Indeed there are ways, if avoiding confusion is desirable

Dear Urban,
Good evening!
I am not sure that others take my discussions wrong to make them think that my post was rude or mean. I have however written a few posts that people have gived an akward answer to my question. Like one time I started a discussion about writing different ways regarding to your moods or what you are writing about.

Yes, readers have different interpretations. It causes confusion. When I post, some of the comments are not the ones I'm expecting. We can't avoid them. Everyone is free to leave their comments. Happy myLotting.

Anything can happen. We miss a lot by not seeing face expressions and body language. We can misunderstand someone and that is the rule for online communication.

Yes, I think it's hard to convey humor online. Unless you use the emoticons. But basically little humorous remarks go unnoticed. I think serious things are taken as such more often than the amusing items are. There are a lot of things that can be taken two ways and, I think, a lot of people take them the wrong way. I notice, not just in mylot but everywhere, that people don't read everything, either. I've seen in many conversations where one of the basic statements one person makes is totally left out of the other persons response even though it's a necessary component of the conversation. Or a question is asked in the form of a few sentences and you can tell by the answer that the person missed (or didn't read) part of the question. Then again, some people just don't have a sense of humor.
