Are you too nice to people who really don't deserve it?

I can't help but be nice. I try not to talk to people who are mean spirited. I'm just too darn nice!

My nature of trying to be nice has gotten me trampled on many a time. There are people who are just so mean. They don't deserve to have people be nice to them when all they are going to do is verbally abuse them!

I totally know what you mean! It's just hard to be mean when you were raised to be nice.

If someone is being a jerk to me, I couldn't care less. It's not worth my time to get upset, and it doesn't benefit me in any way. There's enough anger in the world, and anger begets anger. If someone is being nasty to someone else, however, I will try to diffuse the situation or defend the person who is being wrongfully treated if they themselves are not standing up for themselves. Or, I use humour-an example would be standing behind a customer in line at a store who is giving the cashier a hard time. The cashier is already feeling centred out enough without me causing the jerk to continue his/her behaviour, so I'll stand behind them and mimic what they're doing or step in front of them with my purchases.
