What can be done when your neighbor's dog keeps barking anytime without reason?

My neighbors dog is like crazy just barking out loud without reason. What is so annoying is that this neighbor don't even seem to mind at all. I am awakened even in my sleep anytime at night that I would rather sleep in the living room where the sound of it's howling is weaker. Oh what a hell. Just now it has been howling for almost 3 minutes.

Now I don't understand clearly: does your neighbor's dog barks or howls? Because it's different. Anyway. Even if you seem he barks/howls with no reason, be sure he has a certain reason. Maybe there is some small animal roaming in the area and he wants to chase it, maybe there are some burglars hidden somewhere and he wants to prevent everybody there are some mean people around or maybe he just answers to some other dogs' barking/howling. Even if you don't see the reason he barks, he has one. The problem is his owner - your neighbor, who doesn't care what does his dog do. He should make sure his dog doesn't bother all the neighborhood. That's too bad that dog owners like this make so many people hate the dogs!

hi toyota4k! I got three dogs and with the eight years that they are with us, I think I know them pretty well. Dogs never bark without a reason. There is always a stimulus that makes them do that. They might be hungry or thirsty, might saw something odd or just want to be with their owner. I think you should talk to your neighbor about it, he should be responsible for his pet. God bless!

Have you spoke to your neighbors about this? Is it an outdoor dog that it outside all the time? I might ask my neighbors to politely not let their dog out early in the morning other than to do its business and late at night let them know it is disturbing your sleep. They might not be aware of just how loudly you can hear the dog from your home. I am afraid I would not be able to help myself from going outside side and screaming shut up at the dog, this is a less polite way of dealing with it but perhaps if you wake up your neighbors by screaming at their dog they might get the hint. As a dog lover though you might want to go out and look at the dog if it has been howling for a while it might hurt or caught on something.

Well I did talk to them once so they transferred it behind their house. Still it howls. I think the dog wants to be unleashed but it runs to the streets and might be run over. Never mind I have to get along with this.

That's really bothering.First you have to tell the owner then if there's no action given then better complain in the barangay because it causes already a public disturbance. Neighbors are suffering from their sleep and I know you also need a good sleep for your work in the next day.

That really sucks. I hate it too esp when you're in a middle of a deep sleep suddenly there's a howling, your sweet dream will turn into a horror. Anyways, if your neighbor is that inconsiderate, you better make a report in your local officers. Noise pollution is not a very good thing to tolerate.
