Yesterday I watched a TV program and it said that sushi was not popular overseas in the past because the foreigner didn't like the seaweed. It seems they didn't like its color. I like eating seaweed and I personally think it has a fresh taste. If you don't like eating the seaweed, what are the reasons?

I would have to know how it is processed...after all, look where it comes from. The sea is filled with all sorts of rubbish. All the fish poop in there, when the fish die, they rot in the sea, effluent from ships goes into the sea plus all sort of sewerage from the land. There are minor and major oil spills and also diesel fuel from ferries and other boats.
I will definitely pass thank you.

Nope youless, I love seaweed very much, especially the light fried fresh seaweed. My friend's aunt is very good in preparing this. Anyway seaweed soup with egg and ginger slices added is very delicious to me. Of course the crispy and flaky dried seaweed is always my first preference. As what I know seaweed is a healthy and nutritious food. Taking often is good for our health.
Other than all kinds of yummy food like sushi, salmon fish, half boiled eggs, etc there were packets of such tasty crispy seaweeds served on the hotel breakfast buffet table. This happened during the time I visited Hokkaido two years back How enjoyable to chew some delicious crispy seaweeds and sip drink together with friends after having our breakfast
Only a few of my friends dislike seaweed. They complain that they can't bear the fishy smell of it. They dare to take a little of the crispy one once in a while only if we keep on urging them to taste it I understand that such situation similar like people who don't like durian always saying that the fruit is awesome with its awful stinky smell. Lol...but to me it smells heavenly.
Happy posting

I love eating seaweed. Sushi restaurants are quite popular here and besides the rolls people eat seaweed salad. At home I also have seaweed with rice.

It's really good. The first time I had it was in a Vietnamese restaurant, but I have also had it in Japanese restaurants.

I eat lots of sushi and was not aware the green leaf was seaweed lol, I guess cause they picture it as that nasty plant that touches your feet in the beach and makes you feel itchy lol

WHAT? I love seaweed! What is wrong with these people who do not love seaweed?
It's delicious, it's healthy, and it goes great sushi. Also, it can be used for cooking and baking if I am not mistaken.

I was just joking, but I do love seaweed, it actually is really good, and it's true, it might be a cultural thing. I was raised on Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, German, Italian, and Indian food. I am notorious for eating food that most people don't always like.

I actually don't mind eating seaweed at all, especially in Sushi. I am assuming they don't like it because they might not be fond of green vegetables in general. They just might not like the taste of green vegetables. My daughter will not eat anything that is green either, which I find very unfortunate.

I do eat some of the seaweeds that can be eaten like "agar agar"... as we call it here. We dip it in vinegar with some spice and onions and ginger in it. love it.

I like seaweed a lot, I like seaweed in the sushi wrap, I like seaweed salad and I even like it individually with some seasonings on it. I think some people doesn't loike it because of the texture maybe and I think it is more of an asian food; I don't see them very much in western food.

I love to eat the crispy seaweed. There is one time when we was in South
Korea near the fishing village during winter, the seaweed was so fresh that we bought 5 big boxes to bring back home. I ate with rice and it was absolutely
delicious and flavorful too. However I do not like those seaweed which are soft
once wrap with rice and left too long. It was hard to bite, too tangy.

Honestly, I have to say that there are few things that I wouldn't attempt to eat and I have eaten seaweed many times and I do think that it is something that is quite delicious.
I believe that the reason that it took me such a long time to try it was because of the fact that it was a textural turn off to try it. However, I did finally decide one day to give it a try and at that point I realized that it was something that I really did like.

In my country, sushi is one of the favorites of many. In fact, I have seen many restaurants that specialized in sushi and other food variety of that sort. Some say that sushi are for people who actually can't eat seaweed. I love sushi but I also think that I can eat seaweed alone because it is green and slimy. But if it already dried, I can definitely eat it. Have a nice day.

For one, I wasn't given this food as a child, so I would probably have to acquire a taste for it. Also it depends on how it is prepared. Someone mentioned the crispy seaweed, that sounds interesting. And I think perhaps seaweed would be awesome in smoothies...Unfortunately, in mainstream grocers here, seaweed is not something they carry, so I would have to go to a specialty store to purchase it...

Seaweed is very sellable in our place. We live near the sea and often there are those that gather seaweed and seek them, I have grown up eating seaweed since my parents also prepares seaweed sometimes during meals, it is a great appetizer. So in answer to your question... I hand no reason for not eating seaweed. I love the taste most especially if they are mixed with some vinegar and chili.

Youless, i like eating seaweed. Seaweed was sold quite expensive in my area here. My favorite is crispy seaweed snack. I enjoy buying and eating them during special festival for my son, nieces and nephews. Even sushi is one of my favorite food during special celebration.
