Deep Sleep

Deep Sleep by Andrew Johnson - Deep Sleep mp3 by Andrew Johnson, very well recommended for insomniacs who want to get enough sleep at night.

I did something really crazy this afternoon, which I wished I hadn't done, but on the other hand thankful for the experience! I love peace and quiet and at a usual Filipino home, this is kinda hard to attain. You either get neighbours who blast their stereos or your relatives seem to have this habit of raising their voices just to make a point. It is this household quality I didn't mind before, but since I've been joining intensive meditations, my system may have already interpreted their habit of loud voices as something very abrasive. I do notice that it affects my mood, I get annoyed and I can't even concentrate on work because other than their loud voices, my mom turns the volume up on the tele. I get fed up and just go to a coffee shop to do my work weekly report sometimes. The noise can be physically draining sometimes. I may have accumulated a lot of energy during meditation but with the kind of home environment I have, the energy seems to be drained from these loud noises. Anyway I felt sleepy during lunch time and wanted to take a nap but the noise from the tele was very distracting. Then I thought that maybe I could play Andrew Johnson's mp3 called Deep Sleep because I have had it on my iPhone for a month now but I hadn't really listened to the whole thing. So I decided to go experiment with it and put my headphones on while in bed, this also served the purpose of drowning out the noise in the living room. What happened was really not what I expected. I noticed that I have seen some images as if I was in a lucid dream. I did feel like I was in a deep sleep because by the time I opened my eyes, I felt like my body was too tired to move, much less get up. I could still hear Andrew Johnson's voice telling me to relax, etc etc. I have to admit there was something very hypnotic to it. Alas, I had experienced for myself what people were raving about when they said they recommend his Deep Sleep program for those who are having a hard time getting enough sleep. Too bad I used it during an afternoon nap. I could have benefitted from it if I used it during night time. I had never honestly thought I could be put to that deep kind of hypnotic state as that program allowed me to go really deep while still quite aware at some times. So yeah if you ever decide to try it, just don't listen to it during an afternoon nap.

I guess that's one of the advantages I have working from home - I can take a nap during lunch break and not worry about getting more than a power nap. I used to do naps on breaks when I was working in an office before. I depend on my alarm on the phone to wake me up.

There are times that I have a difficult time getting sleep and I've come to simply accept that it is a part of who I am. There is really nothing that I am able to do to make these things better. With that said, I think that it is great that you've found something that will make it possible for you to be able to get a little bit of peace so that you are able to relax a little bit better.

I've been to some places outside of my country and I can tell you in a normal Filipino neighborhood, you would find it difficult to fall asleep. My sleeping schedules had been erratic, I had worked night shift for like 4 years and lived in a noisy neighborhood. By daytime when I want to get some sleep, there were times I couldn't get a decent sleep because the neighbours would be singing videoke until night. Yes, it is quite a relief to have stumbled upon the Deep Sleep program.

Well sleeping is not a problem with me. Even with the noise around the house I could easily go to sleep. But I do not know if I ever got into a deep sleep that you were describing. I do admit I sleep and feel rested afterwards. I think that waking up feeling tired and all of that is not a good feeling and I usually feel that when my sleep is interrupted.

I think the tired feeling was probably because I had gone to a deep sleep when I wasn't supposed to and part of me wanted to get up already and was so alarmed because I knew I would not get enough sleep at night if I overnap.

I think a quick afternoon nap helps a lot even thought it is only 30 minutes, I feel like a powerful charge after I take a short nap becaus eI get up in the middle of the nights for my kids a lot so I do need it sometimes when I get some awful lack of sleep nights. I don't need a very long nap but a short one helps a lot already. Besides, I can sleep deep anyway because I need to be alert for my kids once they get up so I can only have a short time to nap when they nap.

I have read a nap shouldn't even be more than 20 minutes longer. Ugh. I often break that.

I really don't know or can't even explain why after eating breakfast and doing some online work, I would automatically get tired by lunch time and would want a nap. I wouldn't even feel hungry yet by lunch time since I eat a really big breakfast. I would get hungry again usually by 2pm. I also think that when I am so active during the day, I would find it easier to fall asleep early at night.
