I don't know who's to blame on this, the electric meter reader or the electric company we have here in my area.
I got my bills yesterday that made me shock, my normal consume increase for about 30% of what I use before. As what I've told before in my topic that I was very happy I already cut down my electric bill for almost 50% since I know the reason the CRT monitor that was hooked on my daughters laptop also I already changed my fridge from the smaller one. And to think that time is summer and most of the time electric fans are always in used. After 3 months of having a normal bill now it make me surprised.
I ask some friends about it and they just told me I have nothing to do with it. No where to ask for any reason behind even file a complain because they will just ignore. I heard some bad news about this electric company here in my town only no one is brave and have the courage to complain it to the highest authority outside the municipality.

Has it been really hot where you live? Because I have seen the last two electric bills here to had quite an increase but it is normal here int he summer. But I am in Texas where it gets really hot outside here! And in the summer it is always higher. But I know when we lived in a small apartment I was so mad every time I got the bill it was so ridculous! It was over 200 dollars at times and it was not even 700 square feet! Man I complained all the time there! And now we live in a 3 bedroom house and the elecrtic bills have never hit that high except in the summer maybe 2 months and the rest are way under 100 dollars!!

It is strange, now is rainy season here most of the time I don't used electric fans because of the cold weather and now the bills got high. Last summer is where I cut down the usage since I already get rid of the CRT monitor and I already changed my big fridge with the smaller one.

I'm not 100% sure how your system works but I believe demand in general drives up the price per KW so since it's summer and everybody's got AC on, etc. the demand is very high, therefore I'm sure the price is or was high. I'm not sure there's anyone to complain to except everybody! It's good that you try though, every little bit helps.

I don't have AC and I do cut down using some electric appliances since were only two here. It is just a little bit of shock since I don't intent to use more than the normal usage I used.

hi lynboobsy once we just suddenly starting having double the electic bill that we had before. We asked a Cal Edison person to check our meters and he came back and told us"did you know the person in the next apts meter is hooked to yours so he pays nothing and you now pay for two apts? He went to the guy in the adjacent apt and found that the two apts had once been one very l rge appt and someone from the edison co had made it so both apts were on
our bill and when they made the apt into two separate apts
they neglected to put the new apt on a separate meter so he
changed all that so the man next door had to pay for his own power and our bill went down by half.ask your power comp any to check as why your bill suddenly doubled as there might be a reason and a
way to correct that.

That is normal.
And last month electric power companies declare about increase (I am not sure if this goes nationwide)
So, I am also expecting some increase of our bills for this month.
I just hope it won't give me a good heart attack since my son attached the antennae when monsoon rain attack Manila.
Since then, they're using/watching TV most of the time.
Oh, it's been a long time that we're not using our TV sets when we cut the cable to lessen the bills.
But now, they've(my kids) started it again

You please check the unit price (the tariff) got increased or not. I heard that in our area from August onwards the rate got increased 16.6% and the bill amount could be more from the next month onwards.
However, on the e-bill, we have the updated unit. When the person visit for the unit count, they will take the photos of the individual meters and it will get printed on our e-bill, so that we can compare with the ealier bill and can calculate the total usage bill and if multply with the price which we used is matching, it is ok. And the metre reading and the amount is not tally with the photo given on the bill, we can complait on it. However, it is always tallys. But for the last 2-3 months, even my bill also got increased to 20-25% more.
Also, are you using the Air Conditioners? If you use the A/C, the bill may be almost 3 times more than the normal. Even I am using the A/C from 10 in the night to 5-6 in the moring, that also is a reason for the higher bills.

No I don't have AC that's why I'm confident that my bill will not increase that much because I only have basic electric appliances here and they are not used all the time specially TV sometimes when I'm busy here I watched TV on my laptop while mylotting so I can be focus on what I'm doing while listening. There is also advice us that this coming month they will changed the meter into digital one I hope by that time they will read and record the right meter reading.

So, confirm that the replacement charges for the electronic metere also may be billed you shortly. When last year, the board replaced the new digital ones, and they included the instrumental charges alongwith or e-bills.
Also, if you got a major change in the new bill, as compared to the earlier bills, write a complaint alongwith the ealier bill copies also and inform them that there is no aditional usaged happened in the bill period and let see what they are telling. Mostly they won't agree to you, but can make an attempt.

My hydro bills have been all over the charts. I remember when I first moved in here 10 years ago, it only cost about $50 every two months. Not bad, right? Then it went up to about $150 every two months, and I thought that was absurd, and sometimes even $350!!! Give me a damn break!!! It shows our consumption going up and down and back and forth, but in truth we've used either the same amount, or MUCH LESS, going so far as to turn off our fridge, when we are out of town. I don't tink the hydro companies in Canada, or the USA, now what they are doing, and the damned meter readers are even dumber!

It's a good thing our electric meter is inside our property so every time there's a meter reader he has to knock, I always check and ask him the consumption just to make sure he does not make any errors. How much do you pay for your electricity?

My meter is also inside my fence only he can view it outside and sometimes I did not saw him doing the reading. When I still have my 2 door fridge the CRT monitor that was hooked on my daughters laptop the maximum consumption that I have is 1600 but when I managed to sell my fridge and buy a small one and also my daughter stop using her laptop it cut almost 50% of the bill. It became normal up to 3 months it is just this months it increase for about 30% of the normal bill.

Hello. I normally pay about 30 - 40 per month during the summer and 75-110 during the winter. I have been over charged a few times too and it made for a bad day for both myself and the person on the other end of the line.
Here they are pretty good about fixing it, but you still have to jump through the hoops.
I hope that you get it fixed...

sad to hear about this. Recently Electricity rates are increased in our country, with this new raising rates, we are in need to pay twice amount of bills per usage. We are trying a lot to save the electricity and using various methods to reduced the EB Bill. Previously we paid 450 rupees(9 dollars) for 200 units, but now we are in need to pay around 700 to 800 rupees for this 200 unit current due to the increased rates.
Yesterday itself the EB person come to my place to take the EB reading and we shocked a while after hearing the EB bill rate, we used 600 units last month and we are in need to pay around 1100 rupees for our usage, really it is more than 40% increased amount of our last month usage, due to the increased rates the EB bill amount is high, we are in need to pay the highest amount. We must be very careful to reduce the bill amounts.
Not only the EB bill, other bills like phone, internet, cable and other things are also increasing gradually every month. Each and every bill is giving a shock to us while seeing the amount. We must be organized to reduce this bills.

Actually the bills is according to your electric meter,if all of the residents around you have a hike bills then may be all of you should come to municipality together and discuss this issue, but if just your house face this problem,I think you should find some specialist to check what is going on.

If this is the electric company that is the sole provider in your town (unlike the other bigger one) then I guess you're right, there's not much you can do about it. But it wouldn't hurt for you to ask what prompted the sudden spike up on your bill. You can show them your previous bills and your current one to stress your point especially if its a considerable difference.

Lately it seems that electric bills do continue to go up all the time with no real and in site. Seems like they forget everyone is struggling financially and so they continue to raise the rates etc to where if you new or try to complain about it no one will really listen and so you feel at a loss. Have you tried calling them tp come check out your meter?

There are so many different reasons that our electricity bills can vary significantly from one month to the next. I know that the bill that I had to pay for our electricity in August was a lot higher than I've traditionally had to pay during the same month of the year in past years. The reason that our bill was higher than what I expected is because of the fact that it was a lot hotter this year than it has been in the past during July.
One reason for your increased consumption could have been because of running air conditioners or other appliances to keep the temperature cooler in your home.

I am trying to save 110,000 pesos so I can afford electric solar panels so I wont have those Meralco bills again, All I need is to learn maintenance and I will be free from electric bills and even LPG bills (cos I can ditch my stove for electric stove and oven) I dont want to pay electric bills again, they kept on rising. Just imagine all the money I can save in my lifetime,

One mylotter lives in IloIlo also told me that I think they are already using it. I think it is good when you own a house but if renting I don't know if you can carry the solar panels whenever you live.

I havent purchased one, yes you can move solar panels wherever you go. but you may have to leave wirings if you will move to another apartment. Its already available which is awesome I guess but yeah its not cheap here because its not mass produced,

I think that we have the similar predicament. My electricity bill has gone up two hundred bucks than the average we had. I need to see my next bill to compare the changes that might have happened. We should know when they increase the payment for our electric consumption. As you have said, no one is brave enough to make a detailed complain for an explanation. If we can just take time to act, there can be something to be done to improve the situation. Meanwhile, we just look for ways to increase our income so we don't worry too much.
