I just missed the pork meat for several years. 3 months back when I visited my village and my sister prepared and it was almost finished and didn't got enough for taste. And that also after a long 5 years wait. Here we get the pork meat but as I don't prefe the local meat, I don't buy it from the market. My mom prepare it so well and I am just thinking to get go back to village just to have some pork meat. hahahah However, I a not so particular in anything, I will eat veg. & non veg. depend on the availability.

oh so pork is scarce there?

No, it is available, but only in the case of porks, I am particular to get it from hygenic areas or vendros who sell it from a kown people. Earlier, the people who prepare the meat of this pork used to bring to our home and we can trust them and they will give only the best pork with 1st quality. But if we go out, we have to get what they give.

oh i see i understand now.. you are concerned if those you buy are safe for eating and is clean.. i also have that concern that is why i usually buy pork in meat houses in malls where i know they really abide with the standards.

I don't have problems vegetables in the table everyday since my daughter preferred to have veggies rather meat. When I'm cooking something with meat I have to put some veggies on it even potato or squash because she will just disregard the meat and eat all the veggies.

Yhea glory, since she's a kid she loves to eat veggies specially raw carrots and her favorite broccoli, I'm not fond of eating veggies too when I was a kid, I only learn when I got married the first time I ate eggplant but my kids are good I do introduced veggies with them but I did not expect that till they reach their age now they still love it.

hi jazel__juan I do love my veggies and try to eat all of them that'are served to us. I miss not being able to cook and plan my own meals.before I came here to Gold Crest I did my own cooking and my meals were a little meat and a lot of various veggies as I love them all. Love squash and okra and eggplant, what i used t o do with eggplant was dice it with diced tomatoes and celery and green peppers, its called Ratatouille and is it ever good yum.

That's really nice to hear my dear That's the best way to teach our kids appreciate veggies at an early age. Tomorrow I will be preparing bean sprout as well. You can try it without putting any meat to make it tastier here's my simple recipe for bean sprout melt butter then add bean sprout while stirring it briskly sprinkle garlic powder (better use garlic powder to avoid kids eating the chopped ones) add oyster sauce (this will give a better taste instead of using meat) serve half cook with sunny side up egg

Vegetables are good for everyone. And it's good that your kids eat vegetables at a young age (some kids can't even be forced to eat them). But, as most nutritionists would point out, it's important to have a balanced meal everyday, every meal. So, if it means veggie everyday, so be it! Maybe you could just come up with interesting ways of serving them, like you did the bean sprouts with pork meat (I also looovvve bean sprouts, and they're really healthy, too). There are so many ways to let kids eat veggies (some recipes, they're not even aware they're eating veggies ). All it needs is some creativity and a lot of researching (many recipes in the internet). Also, if your kids like tomato-sauce based dishes, it's also healthy.

You could make meat balls with lots of veggies. Or see if they like lumpia. I saw some recipes before that make burger patties out of lentils or beans. Mushrooms, mmm, I love mushroom burger.

Well, we are pretty much vegetarians, so our meals tend to be heavy on the vegetables and fruits. Right now, our CSA share is keeping us well-stocked in tomatoes and peppers, so those have been showing up pretty frequently in lunch and dinner.

My husband likes to eat meat a lot, he doesn't like any vegetables at all, but I still add some greens in the dinner meal so we all get some vegetables, besides, I think the meat tastes better when serving with vegetables.

When I got to our province this weekends, I am very lucky to cook freshly picked veggies in our backyard. That was one of the great advantage of having veggies in the yard especially in the province. You can just picked veggies and cook them right away.

So what was their reaction on yesterday's menu of veggie, Jazel? Did they again like it. My daughter loves steamed okra, as long as she has a bagoong with some lemon drops to dip it to.
