I just finished listening to a short talk by "Rick Warren" the aurthor of the book "The Purpose Driven Life". At the end of his speech, he mentioned "It's not about me, it's making the world make a better place."
I am not a good speaker and humbly accepting I don't have much talent to show and share. How could a simple person like me make the world a bettr place? Right now life is hard so all I do is just to work every day.
If you would like to hear his speech, I have attached below the link. Please feel free. http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/rick_warren_on_a_life_of_purpose.html

When i was reading that book many many years before, i learned to journalize all the good i have received from God. That made me realize, i have so many good things in life to thank God, thus i can return such goodness of God, by helping people.
Helping not in monetary aspect, as i don't have much of that, but by sharing my time to a lonely friend who wants a shoulder to cry on. Giving things that are just lying idle at home for those who are in need of it.
Such are the examples of how to share what we can share to others , in order to help.

I don't have the talent to show the world either but I believe I can make some changes in this world by starting with my family.
Teaching my own family how to be a responsible citizen is enough contribution in this world i think. Nowadays, people are getting greedy and selfish. We don't want more of that in this world, so i'm starting with educating my son about that.

Kudos to you toniganzon and ahdorg! I agree. I just have realized, I could make a difference if I start with my family. If a single being can manage to make a difference in his/her family ... what more his/her family make a difference to a commuinity then to a society then to the world. Thanks!

I like your idea of starting from your family. And I would say that if is not a small step. Just imagine everyone on this planet educating his/her family, it would not be long before we have a peaceful living earth.
I would also definitely join your league of educating my family.
Cheers

I like Rick Warren's book "The Purpose Driven Life". I read this book several times and i would read it again if i get time. When you begin to thiink about others, you start forgetting about ourselves. Everyone must pray "Bless me to be a blessing of others." Caring for others is the secret to live a joyful life.
A simple person like you can inspire others around you to think right. You might come across people who are depressed or worried without help from anyone around them. Talk to them and share things with people around you. Money need not be the only thing you share.

Thank you so much nishdan01. In our world today we are so dependent with technology so eventually we become materialistic and thinks of money every time. Separating ourselves from not thinking about money as the means to do things is quite hard. I have not finish reading his book. I will do my best to finish it. I agree that being caring to someone can give you joy. As a simple woman I will do my best to be a blessing. Thank you for sharing!

Just continue what you are doing right now and slowly improved yourself by serving others more. Be happy to serve others and be a good person that you could be to anyone you deal with right now. I think that is what he wants to convey. We are not given the fate to be great and famous people but sharing what is good helping others in need is great opportunity to make the world you a better place.

I think he put it in a nutshell when he said "..making the world a better place." Writters really have a broad horizon. You wouldn't know what's going on in their minds. That's even the reason why they wrote a book in the first place, it's because they had to put something in writting or they'll go mad about it. There are a lot of great minds out there, and the responsible ones write a book to share what they think.

Life is not about oneself. It likewise involve the people and everything around us. Our God is a very understanding God. He doesn't demand that we give out more than what we could. Share whatever you could within your capacity and it is not always through material means. Amount does not matter but the intention that's coming from you heart. Remember the story of the poor widow who dropped 2 small coins in the treasure box but was the one praised by Jesus.

You are right namiya. maybe I am just too materialistic and thinks of money as a source for making people happy. Our generation is full of technological attachment and and separating people from teh tru meaning of living. Thanks for reminding me. And thank you for sharing!

Personally many people could learn a lot if they realized everything out there is not all about me. It is about what can help make the world a better place. Learning how to give back instead of take take take. Become an important part of the community and where you work, etc. Let people know you are there. Help out and teach others what is important and in time life will begin to get better for all. I learned a long time ago it is all about more than just money. It it about others and god.

Your words are so deep. We are all so selfish and try to be the best of us because society's reaction matters to us. We are very cautious because we don't want criticism but in fact, these all doesn't matter. Take take take is so easy to do and understand than being selfless. It would take sometime as we learn to be others than be "me" person. Thank you so much for your great opinion!

Remember one of Jesus's apostle who is Peter. He was just a simple fisherman who is not educated. But, He obey God and allow God to use Him for His glory. This world need the light because of too much darkness. We will be the light unto this world.
