Have you ever visited a place and had very low prices?

In 1990 I found very cheap prices in Hungary. I stayed in a private room in Budapest for just the equivalent of 2 pounds a night. I afforded to go to the opera. I loved going on a day up the river for a day out. It was lovely to visit a beach on Lake Balaton. Since then prices in Easton Europe have gone up a lot. In 1996 I visited Prague in the Czech Republic. I found the region more expensive then. It was cheap to visit Bulgaria and Romania in 2006. On my trip around the world in 1993 and 1994 I found Sumatra in Indonesia very cheap. Accommodation cost very little and I shopped in the local markets. I saw amazing sights including the Equator and the wild orangutans. Staying at Lake Toba was delightful.

Have you visited the green witch meridian?
It is in London, where the it intersects with the equator. Please correct me if I am wrong.

When I visited Budapest I didn't arrange my accomodation before I left. It was very difficult to find a place to stay and I walked around from place to place, but the places that I visited were closed or had no available rooms. Eventually I checked into an expensive hotel. It was too expensive for my budget and I didn't really want to stay there, but it was getting late and I needed a place to spend the night so I decided to spend one night there and look for another hotel the next day.
The next day I was walking in the streets and I suddenly found a small hotel that wasn't mentioned in my guidebook. I asked if I could get a room there and they said yes. It was an amazing place! The staff was really friendly and rooms were very cheap. 5 nights in that hotel cost less than one night at the expensive hotel, the room was very nice. I was so happy that I found that place by coincidence.

Hi Maxine my travel lover friend,
the world has changed a lot. During communist era in East Europe everything was cheap. After breaking of Soviet Union the East European countries are now under free economy. Free economy gave them economic crisis. I don't know the political game. But we can feel the consequences. You can say better. Because you have practical experience. Indonesia is a interesting country. Asian countries are the lands of varieties. I saw orangutans in zoo. They are close to human beings. When I read your post about traveling I get delight.

The cheapest place that I have ever visited was China. This was so god at the end of my six months overseas trip as I was pretty broke by that stage and able to save getting further into debt by being in such a cheap country.
Tours, accommodation, transport and food were all cheap. We even let the taxi drivers rip us off as it was so cheap anyway and we felt the travel time was well worth what we paid!

Presently I am in India only and haven't got chance to be out of the country. But in India too, you will find number of places where prices are much lower than other regions. India's capital Delhi, India's heart Mumbai have local markets where you will get things much cheaper than other places.
In fact if you visit villages, and when you will pay for different things, you will think twice about whether shopkeeper is making any profit or not!!

Well I have visited places outside our country but the problem is, I always find them expensive since our denomination is obviously lower than other countries. Just Ike the American dollar, in our case 1 dollar is around 42 pesos in our country, so naturally we would find hen expensive. However there are places in our country that I do find cheap. Practically peopl go there since they can always get a bargain.

I am yet to get out of India. But, life over here is cheaper compared to your place or the places you mentioned in your discussion. Try visiting India, my country, which is not only reach of culture but the very cheap for travelers. There are a few wonderful places to visit and a lot of things to be marketed. I am sure that you would enjoy your stay over here specially during winter months. Don't forget to carry your Camera along.

Good for you. You have traveled alot to compare rates of things. I have been to few places but I have not found things that cheap. well I guess india was the cheapest that I found. Things here are quite cheaper than anywhere else I have visited, for example clothing is cheap, and food is also cheap (specially the street stalls) Some friend of mine was telling me that gold is very cheap in Saudi arabia.. thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

Have you tried visiting the Philippines? You can find a lot of cheap products in our country. With the high exchange rate between European currency and the Philippine peso, you could notice the high purchasing power of your money.
