My daughter is 15 months old but I noticed that everytime I give her a bath she will then get sick like colds and eventually have cough, or fever then eventually accompanied with colds and cough. Im using a lukewarm water with small amount of salt. Before that quick bath, I would apply a baby oil on her fontanels, on her back and chest. I also put Aciete de Manzanilla on her stomach( That green liquid usually used on babies for flatulence) Im not sure of mistake I possibly do every time I bath my child , have I neglected something on my bath preparations?
Hope to hear some mommy advice her..

It sounds like you don't give her a bath very often, is that correct? I bath my children every night and they love it.
Do you set your home indoor temperatures first before you bath her? I do that to my babies so they won't get chilled after they get ouf of the tub; I would put a face cloth on their stomach and keep it warm wet when I am washing other parts of their body, wrap them up immediately once they get out of the tub and dry them off as soon as possible and put clothes on them right away; maybe you should even put her under blanket to warm her temperature back up. I hope it works out for you.

Hello mermaidivy, yes you are right, I dont give my child a daily bath for I fear of giving her colds and cough all the time. I usually bath my daughter at daytime between 10AM-11AM. I wanna clear from you, do you mean bathing them at night as in immersing them on water or just a sponge bath? We dont usually bath our kids at night time but only sponge bath. So this is real new idea for me to bath kids at night well except in hospitals where they give bath to babies after birth to clean that vernix caseosa. Old folks here in my country says that its bad to give a child a bath at night because they will easily get sick or something but as I understand you, your children are enjoying it and seems doing well.
I can say Im doing every precautionary measures in bathing my child, I just give her a very quick bath I would immediately wrap her with large towel after getting out of the water dress her soon after drying. But I think I should try putting her under blanket for a while til her body temperature back up..

Try to take the bath free of drafts and slowly change the temperature in the bathroom to bedroom. Keep it warm in the bedroom too. Use a room humidifier and air filter system. I change my filters often as my eldest daughter was like that and had asthma symptoms with baths like coughing. Now its the opposite, if she doesn't wash her hair often or bathe she starts coughing due to dander and dust in the air. She should have her breathing checked if there is wheezing. My daughter got put on a nebulizer with just wheezing, she didn't even have to have an asthma attack.
Good luck! Happy MyLotting!!

I am assuming you do not bathe her often. My kids have always gotten a bath every night. Kids dont get sick from baths. Kids get colds very often because they have not had much exposure to all these germs so they dont have much immunity.

Yeah, because of her getting sick every time she take a bath I refrained from giving her daily. Tho I know she has to bath daily specially with our weather here in my country which is so hot and humid, but Im just worried because once she gets cold and cough she really wont get well until given medicines and antibiotic which I dont really like giving her often.

I must agree with you, this can possibly one factor for my child having a poor immune system. My children just stays inside our home except for school days. I really avoid them to play with other kids and I limit their exposure to outside environment.

I definitely think that if you really believe the baths are causing her to get sick that you should talk to her doctor about it. Perhaps she has asthma and the moisture or something makes it hard for her and causes her to cough. Perhaps turning a fan out to take the moisture out of the air and bathing her quickly instead of letting her soak in the water for awhile might help.
My daughter is constantly getting tonsilitis. She has such a bad immune system. In the past 4 years or so shes probably had it 30 times. She is having her tonsils removed in abuot 3 weeks.
