I was walking down the street when this question popped into my head. I just had to pose this question out onto the mylot community. What really defines a smart kid? I've heard stories of kids who get 4.0's in high school and college only to become an employee of a company when he grows up. There's also stories of dropouts who go on to become businessmen in their community and lead a successful life as their own bosses. Is this what smart is? Or is there a difference between book smart and street smart? I think they're both smart and it's their skills that make them smart and productive. It's also the choices they make in life and how they respond to it.

smart kids, are kids who are intellectually genius. for me, it is not based on what he or she knows but rather on how he or she handles the situations in her or his own understanding as a kid, how he or she handles the emotions towards other people and to his or her fellow kids.but the bottom line is he or she is still a kid, who like to play everyday. good luck!

I think consistency is important. Consistant good scores on tests. Able to get the concept and keep it. Smart kids usually have interest in the subject matter they are studying. Without that good scores can be a problem. Good organizational skills and study skills early on is very important.

Hello Lastbrother,
I agree with you. Street smarts and book smarts are both necessary in life. It is what you do with the gifts you are given. If you are intelligent then you need to use this knowledge to help people. If you are street smart perhaps helping youths around the world, in the streets learn how to deal with life. There sre so many ways to show how smart you are that it is those who utilizes their skills that are the smart ones.
