I am just curious, through some of my discussion, it seem that a great number of people here, have their own investment or own business and has build a passive income. I would like to achieve that but I am not there yet. It seem that there are many here have achieve that, if you have why don't you share with us what you are doing and how long did you take to reach where you are. Perhaps even share with us your failures and what are the key ingredients of your success.

Having your own business is cool. My first was designing, making and selling bracelets, necklaces and earrings made of beads. I just do it at home and my best friend who has another work at that time does a part time selling with me. It lasted for a year until my mom has pushed me to get a real job. In her opinion staying at home is not a real job even though I am earning because I am just wearing casual clothes and I'm always at home. Though until now I design and sometimes make for friends who requests them I still plan to pursue it.
Now, I have a job in a school and in my spare time I have decided to write children's book. I plan to publish it by myself and distribute in schools and bookstores. I am a very hopeful businesswoman so I'll tell you if it worked.

a pleasant day iwrite,
with reference to your query, i do also aim to have my own business before and i am really thankful that God really guide me on this. though it was not as big as others think it but i am thankful as this is one of the blessings came from Him. in this regard, for me, the key ingredients to have and possess your own business was to say your petition thru prayers. God knows that you need it, so He will truly give it to you perfectly.

I own my own online jewelry store. I have to work on it daily because items do sell out. There are weekly sales. I do have several things that require lots of work, time and energy. Nothing you can get rich on, but you can make money when you work at it.

I think you like to have financial freedom so you do not have people boss you around. however we can always start small and become better at it. for me I am take forex as my earning tool and use it to leverage on my other investment. So I would have passive income.

I'm trying to make a go of it as a full-time eBay trader. I registered my business in June and I'm taking advantage of a government scheme that helps unemployed people start new enterprises, but I have to admit I'm making slow progress. I'm not earning a living yet, but I figure as long as I keep trying I've got at least a chance of making it.

Well, many of us do dream of and many even plan on starting a work, or business of our own. I also tried something related to Product Marketing. Yet, I have not been successful. I do lookout for ideas wherein, I can start up something on my own, or with some minor partnership with a friend of mine. One magazine which inspires me and I have started regularly looking up is "Outlook Business". You can checkup its August 4 issue, which has a cover story on India Entreprenuers below 30 years of age.

I won't go to the extent of saying that I have my own business and I know that the money that I am able to make online right now is definitely not enough money to replace a full time income.
However, what I have learned during the time that I've been doing work online is that you have to be willing to invest a lot of time upfront to be able to build a passive income.
Most of the money that I make online is from writing and I get paid based on page views for the articles that I've written.
