Read in newspaper that there is again a reasonable rise in the rates of electricity. I am having a big 4 room house with a fan n light facility in each room. Up till now out of 4 at least 3 rooms fans were running all the day whether there is anybody in the room or not. But now we have restricted as we gather in a room where the fan is on and all the other fans are put off in the day time and in the night lights too put off. Thus we are trying to save an electricity from our side at least.

Govt know how to tax the people, they know this only they are not at all caring for middle class people, the politicians are keen in earning money and their votes and seats, who are caring common people, the Govt employees and private job holders are well ,only the small business people and less money earning people are hard to live, if it grows like this, Govt should face so many problems, have a nice day.

Hi,
You are right. Rich people don't have to worry about rising amount of electricity bills. but poor and middle class people have to worry about bills. Our politicians are very selfish and they don't care about common people. thank you for the response.

Especially considering the fact that the economy has struggled the way that it has over the last several years, I think that it is very important to save as much money as possible where it is possible to save money.
Now, we have central air in our house which I will admit is something that can be harsh on the electricity bill, but we have actually raised the temperature that we are keeping the ambient temperature at in our house and we are now using our ceiling fans a lot more than we used to.
In addition to that, when it is cooler outside, we are keeping the windows open more to keep the house cool from the outside in.

you can also save by switching to led devices like led tv, led lights and etc. led uses less electricity. also turn off the water heater if its not too cold or regularly clean refrigerators. there is a lot of ways to save electricity. good luck.

Hi friend, you are right, we must try our best to reduce the EB bill, I change normal bulbs to power saver bulbs, which helped me to save the power a lot, since power savers will consume lower electricity compared to the normal bulbs. Previously i used AC through out the night while sleeping, but my wife advised me to reduce the usage of AC. We just use AC until getting sleep after that we switched off it and have a good sleep with the coolness in the room, it saved a huge money for us
We changed our old fridge and washing machine and bought new devices with 5 star rating which is very much useful to reduce the EB charge. With this modifications we saved around 40% of EB bill and happy with the new appliances. We have the ability to organize our usage and reduce our billing amount. By organizing our current usage, we are saving the power and helping the government as well as reducing our EB bill.

Good. Keep the good habit. It is always wise to switch off the fans and lights when it is not needed. In this way we can save the usage of electricity.

The biggest electricity users in the home tend to be heating and/or air conditioning, water heating, washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, lightning. and the refrigerator. When looking to save electricity, spend the most time focusing on these big energy hogs to get the biggest effect for your efforts.

Hi,
Welcome to mylot. You are right. Water heaters, refrigerators and air conditioners are the most electricity consuming devices so we should control the use of devices to reduce the electricity bills. thank you for the response.

I have been looking in a big warehouse store in Australia and starting to opt for the little solar lights or even battery opperated lights. First investments was 3 battery operated sensor lights for our hall way. One solar light which I use in the kitchen when I am not cooking or washing.
Outside, we have invested in more senor solar lights. Now I don't have to turn on the outside lights when it gets dark.
By making small changes in the family home, we have saved up to a quarter on our bill.

Yes, we need to save energy and electricity. It helpes in 2 ways. First of all, our own e-bill amount will get reduced and at the same time, the unused electricity will get saved and it helps to shortage of electricity also.
We should adopt various options where we can save it. As you said, if not required, switch off the fans/lights or any other electric appliances which we are not using. Even the mobile chargers also needs to be switched off when we remove the mobile from the charger. Some people won't switch off from the main lines, so the charger is consuming the electricity even if we remove the phone.
Similarly, we can switch off the lights in different rooms, reduce the TV brighness, computer chargers and unattended computers should be shut down when not using it. Avoid water heater and use only on emergencies. Even we can save the cooking gas also by adopting various ideal ways to use the same.

its good that you are doing what you can to save electricity. if everybody should have been doing this before then there would never be a necessity to increase the electricity prices. But most of them take things for granted and they dont realize until they are fined or something related to money is not happening.
But on a lighter note, after raising the electricity prices they have made family to be more closer than before. You all are now spending time in one room and running only a single fan. isn't it great! You all will be talking more frequently now and sharing like same which used to be some times back.
