Blisters. Pop or don't pop?

This morning I had to walk a very long way including on the same street where a rapist and molesters are said to live . Well, I made it in one piece despite my feet trying to give from under me several times. My award for making such a grand journey? Some shiny new blisters!
Okay so I'm confused because I am hearing that if you pop them they will be infect, but others are saying if you don't pop them they will be infected. What do you think and how do you pop a blister?

I too in this dilemma before. To pop it or not.
I normally used a clean 'safety pin' or a clean 'needle'
to pop it. However, it will be blister again but less 'water'
in it. However, I remembered reading an article that said we
should NOT pop it as the 'water' in the blister actually protect
us from infection. Moreover if we do not pop it, it will heal even
faster and less scar. I think it is true as I tried both ways before.
I need to be patient because I have the tendency and it is tempting to
pop it.

. I'm not very tempted to pop it myself unless its really necessary. My feet are already painful enough. Thank you Iriene88 and ahdorg for your advice.

That's the method I decided to go with after all. No popping. I think that protective layer of skin not being there would really cause a lot of irritation. Best to leave it be.

I have been told not to pop them, so they will heal faster. In my youth, I would pop them, but at my age now not a chance, as I don't mend quickly anymore. Hope the blisters heal quickly.

Thank you, Raine38. I can't remember the last time I had blisters before this I bought these cute little ankle boots however, so I'm sure there will be more to come.
