An hour ago I returned from the medieval festival. I had a really great time there. We arrived in the afternoon and we walked around and looked at the stalls where people sold clothes, jewelry, different things made from wood, food and drinks and many other things. Some of the medieval dresses were really beautiful and I would love to buy one of them, but they were far too expensive. At night they light the torches and the candles. I really enjoyed walking around in area after dark. It was a beautiful sight with all the torches and in combination with the sounds and smells and it created a special kind of atmosphere There were different kinds of craftsmen who showed us how they built things in the middle age for instance how they built thatched houses, it was interesting to see that. There were also some macabre things like gallows where dolls were supposed to illustrate people who had been executed. Many of the participants were dressed up as people from the middle age for instance beggars, musicians and knights. I didn't have the chance to watch the knight tournament, because it was already finished when we arrived. I wanted to buy some of the traditional food from that time, but I had to give up the idea, because it was impossible to get a seat anywhere. Next year I will arrive when the festival starts. The only bad thing about the festival was the number of people. It was a challenge to walk from place to place because the place was so crowded.

hi Porcospino, thanks for the response, that's why i did not like to attend the temples are big gatherings, where we may not get seat and food also, i do not know you have visited India till now or not, In andhra Pradesh ,dhall is famous it is mixed with rice and eat, the Dhall food is only famous in Subbiah Hotel at Kakinada and Geeta Lunch home at Kunrool, where we have to wait at least 10 minutes for the seats, every batch is full, the dhall taste is very very super, if any body does not like to eat dhall ,will also eat dhall there 2 to 3 times, that is the great, this is some 15 years back now still they are existing or not i i do not know, have a nice day.

Yes, I remember that you wrote about the festivals in other discussion. The lunch and dinner sounds nice and I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the time they you spent there. Today I wanted to eat some of the traditional food from the middle age that they sell in the stalls, but we weren't able to find a place to sit down. The festival area was very crowded and there no empty seats. My husband and I decided to have dinner in an Asian restaurant instead, and we had a very nice meal there. Afterwards we returned to festival area and explored the rest of the area.

I have never heard about the festival in Maryland. I am from Europe and the festival that I wrote about took place in Denmark. I looked it up online when I had read your response. It sounds like there many similaries between that festival and the festival in Denmark, and I would be interested in visiting the festival in Maryland when I travel around in the US in the future. Have you visited the festival in Maryland?

Oh yes! It is great! I go every year and dress up.They have shows going on all day kings and queens, knights in shining armor big turkey legs and goblets. Its the best. And even better it that they have it going on around Halloween time too so that adds more to the excitement.

Oh I used to volunteer at a Renaissance faire back in high school. All proceeds went to a different cancer charity each year. I was very sad when it was shut down to an ironic twist of fate. The woman who ran them passed from of all things cancer. After 23 years of charity work to cure it the cancer got her. Anyway I loved working that faire. We where all dressed up like wenches and peasants and we would work concession stands, mud pits, theater pips and what not. Loved it.

We tried to take some pictures, but they didn't turn out well because it was too dark and I deleted them again. It is a pity because I would have liked to capture the the beautiful atmosphere with the torches and the candles, and I was planning on adding a picture to my discussion, but they were much too dark so that I had to forget that idea and stick to the description. I hope that you will have the chance to visit the festival once day. There were many international visitors at the festival and some of them had travelled from the other end of Europe to visit the festival. The festival takes place in the last part August every year.
