i was very excited that president benigno aquino appointed in the history of the judiciary the first lady chief justice, in the person of justice maria lourdes sereno. i am very proud that the new chief justice is a woman aside from the late president corazon aquino as the first woman president of the philippines. i was hoping that the new lady justice will bring reformed to the supreme court, eliminates corrupt officials in the field of the judiciary and bring transparency to the people and to the supreme court as a bastion of freedom. aside from that transformed supreme court as a resilient weapon for good governance and protector of the rights of every individual in this country. good luck!

Hi, I didn't realize we have an all-male Chief Justice tradition until I saw the news. I don't know the implications in this new development, maybe the justice system in our country should take a turn for the better, just as we have our first woman president way back then? Or perhaps, it may get worse from more corruption, worst than the preceding one? At least, perhaps the president could see more than we do when he chose a lady, having more confidence in her than her male counterparts. Only time will tell how she may fare, she's fine by my first impression.

Amen to that akatsukipein. But if you just watched the news today, the new lady chief justice is already being questioned about her wealth. Could this mean that we are just wishing upon the stars???

I also hope that her appointment would not go in vain. I think she has a long way ahead of her since I think even as President Pnoy exits as the President of our country she will still reign as the Chief Justice. She has a lot of things to do in her term as I see a fragmented Judiciary at the moment and I hope she can regroup it again so the public can gain confidence again in the Judiciary.

I believe that Cj Sereno is just the right magistrate in the judiciary. Even if she's the youngest, I fervently hope for the next years she will head the judiciary, she won't be beholden to patronage politics..

Our president is doing his best to make wise decision. There is a lot expected of the new lady supreme court justice "Maria Lourdes Sereno." Let's give her a chance to reform or do what she can for the improvement of teh supreme justice. Our country is in the middle of a rehabilitation. Let's open our minds and be positive for good results from the decisions of the people in the government. In return as we trust them, let's help each other lessen their problems by doing our part; be responsible citizens. Being responsible citizens promotes the country as a nation to ourselves and to the world. Let's show to the world that we are united and we will rise again. Rise Philippines!

yes we now have a lady chief of justice the first in our history. let's hope and pray that she will more than prove her worth for the position and insure that the real essence of the symbol of justice (the blindfolded lady) is exercised. May it be too that this time we will see that justice is serve EQUALLY and PROMPTLY to every sector of society particularly to the poor and non-influential citizens of our country.

I too, was happy that we have the first lady supreme court chief justice. I know that she has been thoroughly chosen from amongs the shortlist of brilliant lawyers and former judge, so that means she's the best. The way i look at her, she is an honest one. And hopefully, she will bring a lot of reforms in the judiciary.

If there is one thing that we would show to the world it is equality of rights and opportunities when it comes to gender, we may be poor because of corruption but Democracy and equality is very much alive here

Well, I think the Phillipines is making history once again. I do hope that there will be an improvement after this and she will not fail us. We have so many problems affecting our country and having a good justice systems will certainly be a plus factor for development and improvement. There are times when I am already losing hope for our country. I hope that she will be able to deliver and make my hope rise again.

I'm so excited also if that appointment will change according to their words or just another word and promise like before.. What we need is a person with political will that never influence from above power (president)
