I have been informed by many of my friends in Mylot that we are paid here for our overall participation. What does 'overall participation' mean? How do you define it? Does it mean responding to discussions, initiating discussions and adding comments to responses from others? Or,does it include doing Mylot tasks and using Mylot search engine also? I am a bit confused.

MyLot define it as "quality responses [and comments], relevant discussions and images, and normal website activities". http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq6.aspx#15
Quite what is meant by "normal website activities" is not specified and we are not told how much that contributes to earnings (if anything). Anyway, because our earnings are updated daily as "participation" it is impossible to say which of posting discussions, responses or comments or adding images earn more and one can only reasonably assume that they contribute an approximately equal amount, dependant on the quality as a whole. I think that you can reliably assume that the earnings algorithm is far more complex than just 'so many quality points for each post' added up and converted into cents.
MyLot tasks, rewards (and referral earnings) are clearly accounted for separately, as you can see from your Earnings page. Tasks are the only aspect of MyLot for which there is a known and fixed rate.

I felt it necessary to add "and comments" to the definition above because I know (from elsewhere in the FAQs) that these are taken into account and believe that they were left out of that paragraph by mistake rather than by design.

I try to respond to as many discussions as I can in the limited time that I have.I also add comments to all responses attracted by my posts. So far as adding images is concerned,I don't know how it is done. These are the two activities that I am engaged with.I rarely use Mylot search and never do Mylot tasks.
Thanks a lot for providing the link.I would visit it tonight. Thanks a lot.

I define overall participation, after reading the FAQs, the guidelines, the Terms and realising that myLot is a discussion site, to be evrything that I contribute here in a 24 hour period.
Whether I start a new topic, respond or comment on topics started by others is irrelevant but what counts is that what I do adds something to the site itself.
This means that if I start a topic that is a poll, it ill be removed and I will earn nothing but if I start a topic, or join in on a topic started by others, and add relevant quality responses and comment to it, causing others to add more, then I am doing what myLot was started up for and I will earn for it.
Am I right in thinking that you have not yet reached your first payout?

Hi misdianait, except for Mylot search and tasks,I do all things here that you have mentioned. So far as initiating discussions is concerned,I rarely do it.Also I try to maintain quality here despite the fact that English is not my mother tongue.
I have crossed payout level here for the second time. Now I am inching towards my third payout.

Brilliant!
In that case you are doing absolutely fine and if I were you I would concentrate on having fun rather than on earning. Once you do that then the earnings will take care of themselves
I don't use the tasks often. Sometimes there is something really simple and it catches my attention and i will complete it and a couple of cents here and there addup too.
I have the search set as my default search and throughout the month the random rewards add up too.
I do a bit of whatever I fancy when I am here, depending on my mood

Thanks, diana.I had joined Mylot for money, but now money is not my priority.I have already started taking fun here. For me,it is the only place on the internet where I can express myself quite freely, and,as you have said, earnings are really taking care of themselves.I take fun here and earn for making fun.Anything in which we start taking fun, gets done almost automatically.Posting responses and adding comments is no longer a burden for me.It's a fun.
Thanks a lot for encouragement and the invaluable guidance.

No overall participation does not necessarily mean that you should take part in everything for which mylot has a paying scheme like doing tasks or putting banners. By overall participation I refer to the fact that you should discuss a topic according to its merit and not for the mere fact that it will provide us with money. We should respond to discussions as well as encourage others to respond to their own discussions.

I agree with you.I seldom use Mylot search, but never do Mylot jobs here, because I don't have sufficient knowledge of computer.I had joined Mylot for money, but now I am concentrated on sending quality responses to discussions here.Maintaining quality now is my first priority here, because I know money would automatically follow. And yes,I also try to encourage others to be qualitatively active in the site.
Thanks for commenting.

I also tried other mylot services but for some or the other reason couldn't find the interest going in them. Also time boundations are there. I like speaking my mind at this place in the best way I can. I am very fond of increasing my communication skills and English language for which mylot is one of the best places to be.
