I know that there are a lot of "get rich quick" schemes out there and more and more people are catching on that these are scams. But, I also know that there are some legitimate companies out there where you can make extra money in your spare time at home. I feel like I've done hours and hours of research with little or no results. Are there any legit companies out there who truly pay you to work from home without having to jump through hoops or spend your own money to start up?

I was unsure if this was true or not up to a few years back. I always hoped to make money online. Thankfully after a lot of trial and error I found out that by writing articles online you can actually earn money. Then I established a lot of contacts and ended up setting up my own team of writers. Now I cater for several clients and this has basically become my full-time job. I must say I really enjoy it. So you should not give up. You just need to find somehting you like doing and that you are good at. Do you have any experience in writing for instance? You could give it a go. Then there are those who are better at transcriptions, or prefer quicker jobs such as completing surveys.

I've found that I don't care too much for the surveys, they take too long and half the time you get half way through them and it kicks you out and says you don't qualify for the survey. They just seem to be a waste of time for $0.25. I do belong to a few sites and write some articles, but I haven't seemed to make any money off of those either. I took a journalism class as an elective a few years ago. I may not be the best writer, but I'm better than some of the people I have talked to who claim that they make decent money writing articles. So I don't know, maybe I'm just with the wrong companies..?

hello MsControversy. I have been writing for almost five years and I am earning a monthly income from writing. Not too much but it helps pay my bills. Find a good writing site and write. You cannot earn money if you only write 10 or twenty articles but you can earn as you write more and more articles because of the traffic that the articles build. Write, write and write is what writers should do. Good luck and hope i can find you soon in the writing sites that I write for.

I don't earn a living online by any means but I do know of a few other legitimate sites like mylot where I've actually been paid. We are unable to promote links within the discussions here but if you look at my profile I have banners for the sites that have been good to me.

Welcome to mylot!
It much depends on what you expect to earn online. I don`t live in the US, where there are more chances to earn, yet I earn about $100 a month, enough for good vacations every year. I could not do it alone: I need referrals. I tried investing, but it is not worth it. So I exchange links with friends here and I`m active at hissite if he is active at mine. We both gain. I have enough experience to promote only legit sites so my friends accept my exchanges. When I promote a new site, I tell them it`s a risk.

Yeah, it seems like every company wants you to invest some type of money. Obviously, people who are looking to earn money don't have the extra money to spend for a program that explains how to build a website or start your own business. I've heard that a lot of the places that ask you to invest are scams.

I'm not going to lie and say that I have been able to replace a full time income by working at home. However, I do believe from my own personal experiences that I really have been able to depend on some degree of income every month based on the work that I am doing online. I am almost always able to make payout on mylot every month and there are two other sites that I've come to be able to count on getting a payment every single month. In addition to that, I also have some other sites that I use where I will be able to get paid every other to every third month.

SMC specialty merchandise Corp is a legit work from home company. What you put into it is what you will get out of it. You do have to pay for membership each year. Textbroker.com which is a writing website is legit. I get paid each week. You have to be a good writer to write for them. You have to write about what they have to offer. Textbroker is the best.

I have heard of SMC before and I looked into it, it's been a few years though. It didn't seem like something that I was interested in, especially when they said you had to pay. And I joined textbroker today and am waiting to hear back from them. Thank you for that, I had never heard of them before. =)

triond.com
expertscolumkn.com
wikinut.com
helium.com
knoji.com

I'm a member of these sites and earning a decent amount of cash every month. These sites will not make you rich in an instant, but if you want a steady earnings and investment from your articles, then this one is recommended to you.

I know some friends who are working online. One of them said that there was no initial fee on the website where she is working at present, only a test. When you pass the test, that is the time that you will be accepted to the site and work depending on the skill that you have.

Maybe you should look a little harder. There are indeed sites that allows you to work from home and are legitimate and pays. However, you should bring in some skills and talents to start. Some needs established and well managed blogs, specific skills and requirements and others. Try to look for writing sites. There are a lot that pays for content.

Yeah there are plenty of legitimate sites out there that do pay mylot.com as a example. All you need is a somebody genuine to point you in the right direction, which in itself can be bad as a lot of people just want to make money off you by making you join somewhere with there affiliate codes.:(
It can all depend on what time and effort you wish to put into it there are easy ways to make money and hard ways to make money. Lots of people go down the hard route because they do not have the knowledge of how to really make money.
All "get rich quick" schemes are get rich schemes but only for those selling them.
You can make money without any money to start with just do your research and you will find something.
Good Luck

The only way you can make "money" online is to sell a product or work for someone just as doing it offline. Scammers take advantage of those who want to make easy money. There are companies whose jobs are online because there is no need for an office. I think Odesk is an example, I also heard some more of its kind and even those who would pay you just to 'like' pages on Facebook. The most viable way of making money online is to sell your skills to companies or people looking for freelancers to work at home. You can find sites like these, all you have to do is check your skills and what they are looking for.
