One of my friends wishes to travel around the world but she has low finances. I suggested she might like to buy a ticket around the world with her credit card and stay at couch surfing accommodation. We had a quick look at couch surfing accommodation available on-line. It was funny when she asked me to do a search. I put in for 3, kids permitted and wheelchair accessible. One was in Japan and most of the others in America.

Well..locally ..i.e., within the country..you could come and stay at our place..dont expect great accommodation. Its essentially stay offer..only bed and breakfast..:) I am not a good cook..and I wont cook non-veg in my kitchen..except eggs may be. :) Simple South Indian breakfast. :) That way you can save on hotel costs and taxes. :)

I wouldn't be comfortable with couch surfing, either as the person going to other peoples' houses or having someone else come to stay here. I would rather stay at a hotel or even motel. I imagine with couch surfing, you're expected to socialize with the people you're staying with, & I would just rather keep to myself & do my own thing, but I think that might seem rude. Thus, a hotel or motel is a better option for me.

It sound interesting and would be cheaper but I would not feel comfortable . I think your friend should wait until she have a little more cash so she can be more comfortable .

I have tried couch surfing once in Sydney. It was only for 1 day as I couldn't sleep well beside the host. He only had 1 bed and it was a small room he rented. I was so out of options that day and I had to move out from the place I homestayed in because it was far away from the city centre. I didn't like to commute that much. The next day I met up with my friend and we slept over at her friend's small apartment. I found a place shortly after that and luckily it was an easy commute going to the airport and was a quiet too. I had my own room for a cheaper price.
There were other couchsurfing hosts who offered me accommodation, some for free but then they would decline saying something came up and their brother had to stay with them etc.

Once 4 years back I am member of this "Coach Surfing" site and there is charge means membership of 8 dollars then,i have not paid that amount and I does not continue with that site. Now i am thinking this Coach surfing is best way those people who does not have enough money to stay at those places, have a nice day.

I have never tried couchsurfing, but my husband and I have talked about trying it in Switzerland because accomodation is expensive there and it would be hard for us to afford a hostel room or a hotel room. We have checked the prices and even the hostel rooms sound expensive, so I think that couch surfing could be an alternative option in that situation. We are not going to visit Switzerland right now, but we are going to keep it in mind and see if we can find a couch surfing host when plan a trip to Switzerland. Right now we don't have any extra beds, but I when we get an extra bed I would be willing to be a host.

I would have loved to have tried it, using the site, in my single days but now I am married probably not. It is not just a question of economy but a better way to experience travel, thinks I
all the best urban

If you consider that couch surf hosts are people who let you into their homes for a night or two for no recompense, it's no great surprise that most only have room for one guest at a time. Some people just cannot accommodate a wheelchair. Not because they have any prejudice but simply because their homes are not designed for it.

It's a great idea, especially for low-budget travel. But I don't think I'd be comfortable doing that because you just don't know what people are like nowadays. I'd be nervous about staying in a strangers house.
