I like many different types of music... Heavy metal is one of them... Today, I was told by someone that heavy metal music makes people more angry... I started cracking up & asked him where he got that idea from... Apparently, people who listen to heavy metal music are more prone to drug use, taking risks among other things... Then he gave me the web site... Www..com/answers/emotional+health/anger/45520... I'm always pretty laid back & though I'm no angel, I've never been in serious trouble as a kid, or even as a grown adult... Is this hold true for anyone? Do you agree with this assumption?

I would think playing in a heavy metal band or even listen to it releases your anger, instead of making you angry. You feel the anger then play some heavy metal, not the other way around. To feel truly happy all you need is some Motorhead blasting through your head. Slipnot is an exellent band to blow some steam out,and then you are at peace:) Dont keep you anger inside blow it out with awsome rock, heavy metal or whatever you prefer.

"I'm always pretty laid back & though I'm no angel, I've never been in serious trouble as a kid, or even as a grown adult..." That is the difference I think. There are so many problems today with people that it makes them angry. I think if you have a normal life with normal surroundings and normal parents, you'll be fine, lol! If you come from a broken home or a home with nasty parents or with someone who bats you around all the time or abuses you physically or mentally...I can see this happening just by the words and the music. I'm 65 and have listened to heavy metal all my life..along with other types of music. It's never bothered me where I got angry.

I think there is just a tiny bit of truth in it, as in the force in heavy metal is associated with violence and anger in SOME people, psychologically. But using that as an argument, I think is just childish. People should understand every have different tastes.

Metal is aggressive and powerful. Although it tends to be angry it does not always mean that the message is negative.
