My father was in the military and we moved every year to 2 years with the exception of Alaska. We spent 4 years there. I loved it there. Camping and fishing all year long. As a kid, the most we had to worry about were mosquitoes the size of dogs and how fun it would be to build an igloo out of the snow thrown to the side of the road by the snow plows. I got to visit the "north pole" in Alaska, and I was able to meet Susan Butcher, one of the first female Ididarod racers (dog sled racing from Anchorage to Nome).
I lived in a few places in California, Kentucky, Tennessee, Washington, and was able to visit almost every state other than the New York and surrounding states. I loved Washington, it was very green and beautiful. I didn't get to experience enough of Washington but I may visit later. California was nice, a little too sandy, but it was the first time I experienced a beach. Of course, the small part of the beach I was able to experience had a big dead sea animal (I think it was a Seal, but its been many years). Kentucky was by far the worst place I've ever lived. People were rude, the schools left a lot to be desired, and the temperature was too humid to be enjoyable. Tennessee isn't far behind the dislike scale for the same reasons. I finally found a place I like in Tennessee when I moved to Nashville. There is a lot to do in Nashville. Watching the Predators hockey team is awesome, and concerts constantly.
I was able to experience some of Europe. I lived in Berlin Germany for a year. I got to see the all around the city, and had a piece of the Berlin Wall, but was given to family. I lived in Heidelberg Germany for 2 years. I loved every moment of it. The weather was great, there was a lot to do, and the people were friendly (or most of them as long as you at least attempted to speak German, even if it was horrible). My Jr. Prom in high school was at the castle. My Senior prom was in a hotel in TN.
During my time in Europe, I didn't get to see as much as I wanted, but it was awesome going climbing in Austria. I hope to be able to see several other countries before I die. Italy, England, Scotland, Russia, Ireland and Spain. I am sure I can find many more but those are the ones that stick out the most.

Why hello Mr. GavinKaos..it's great to see you!
Sounds like you are very well-traveled. I went to Japan once but that is the only out of country experience that I have got to have so far.
I have traveled along most all the southern states. Lived in Florida and Alabama for a bit. Visited Houston Texas and was not expecting a big city for some reason. California was great..I've been there twice. My grandmother lived there and we reunited when I was 27. I went out there a couple of times to see her and she was a woman that loved to show her guests around. We drove across the desert to Las Vegas both times too..lol. She turned out to be quite the slot player and I had a great time there too. I learned alot about life and people traveling. I have been to Ohio and Indiana too but I would like to visit more of the northern region.
It is funny how I always seem to end up back in Tennessee though. I am actually really impressed with the highschool my daughter attends. They offer college credits and have dual enrollment programs with area colleges. Not the norm I know though.
I am actually traveling out your way this weekend too. I am going to Cookeville to a weekend music festival. Campsite came with the ticket but I have to be honest..I am a bit funny about being out all night with a ton of people I don't know so I have rented a room.
I would love to visit some of the places you mentioned out of the country...I bet it was amazing to get to travel like that.
I hope you have been well and it's great to see you. Take care.

I would love to visit Japan. I have heard it is a nice place.
I have recently found my biological father in Oregon and also found out I have a half sister, and Half brother that I would like to meet. Unfortunately it will probably be a very long time before I can afford to go there. Its interesting the people that I used to know and where they have wound up in the world.
I want out of TN. I hope to move and never move back, but I would visit TN again because of friends and Family. I hope to move to New Orleans sooner or later despite everyone telling me I don't want to move their because of the hurricane. Natural disasters happen everywhere. At least hurricanes you know ahead of time they are coming instead of tornadoes that appear out of almost nowhere.

The traveling and living in different places that you did with your father who had a job within the Military was excellent. It most have been an existing childhood that you had. I think it most have been fascinating to come over to Europe and lived in Germany.
I wish you lots of luck in seeing other countries on more happy travels. I love it when I travel to different countries. Good luck with anymore traveling that you wish to do.
