Writing online articles - any success?

I have started writing articles on Triond and while it is fun and I enjoy it, I am wondering if anyone really has any real success with those sorts of sites. It seems that it is quite difficult to build up followers and when I went to promote my articles I found that some of the sites on which they had been published are actually blocked by some sites - probably due to spamming from other writers. I would be interested in your success/failure and any other sites that you would recommend.

I've never written for Triond but I do have some experience in content sites. Promotion and consistency are the two keys that will bring in traffic, along with some good SEO work. Optimizing for search engines isn't as important as promoting your work, no matter what they tell you. Not every article can be on the first page or two of each search result.
One thing I learned is to set aside an hour or more each day to do nothing but promote.
If you have a Facebook account, post links to your articles there, but don't post just links. Talk about what you've written about and invite your friends there to read it.
Find forums or other interactive sites that allow you to post links in your signature. Join in as a member and not as a spammer. Only join forums that you are genuinely interested in and that match up with what you've written.
If you use email, put links in your signature line when you do.
If you don't have a blog, start one. Talk about what you write about and write some good short articles for it. Go to other blogs that talk about the same things and comment on their posts. Blogs have places where you leave your link. Link to either you blog or to your articles.
Think about where to talk about your articles. Use places like Stumbleupon and Digg sparingly, but wisely.
Get a Twitter account if you don't already have one and use it like Facebook, above.
It takes work, but that's the only way to make a go of it.

You are right. The only issue about this is the amount of time that it takes - and I know that if you want the results you have to spend the time, but promoting your stuff just seems so tedious. As I am writing this I realise why I am not getting the views that I would like to get - I am not putting in the work. Thank you for your advise!!

I also have written some about 27 of them and I did have 500 views in one week and I had not done anything to promote my articles. I have not got much time to write more lately but I will try to catch up. Many people say that hubpages and experts column is better than triond but I really don't know because i am not on hubpages neither in experts column. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

That is a great way of looking at things. Even if you are not earning a lot of money, you are earning knowledge and that rarely goes to waste. I really hope you get an opportunity to use the knowledge that you have learnt from writing articles.

I write for Triond, and even though I don't get a lot of money, I still earn from it. I write for Helium and I earn decently from it, but unless you put a lot of time and effort into writing, you're not going to earn a whole lot.

I submitted a few articles a couple of years ago, and over the past couple of years I think I've been paid a little over a dollar from them. I'm pretty sure it's not really worth it, although the idea of doing a bunch of work and then having bits of pay come in each month is appealing.

Hi, these days triond earnings is at its lowest compared to other sites. Though triond is a legitimate site, I would say that your registration to that site comes too late. there are lots of problems triond is facing right now and it affects its members earnings. I'm sure you can search many triond related discussions here and see what I mean.
I would rather recommend you to join expertscolumn.com as this site is becoming more popular these days. You can also re-post all your triond articles there as they accept prevously posted articles to their site. Just make sure that you have the same pen name on both sites and you need to link your triond account to EC account. You need to check their FAQ to do this though.
Any success? for me, I would say "yes" I've been successful to this sites. Not that I get rich in a month or two, but able to have some extra income for our every day's living.

You can't be success for writing online articles with one site.Try to register or join with many articles sites. Why? For example you're already join with triond, then you register with any sites such : shvoong, helium, or squidoo. You can write at bottom article your other sites link or more. With that way you articles will get a lot of readers. One articles publish to 4-5 sites.I think that was quite worth to try.
With that way i hope you will get more money and can success with online articles

On triond I have little to no success. I can't think of enough topics to write there to get enough income to even get the 50 cent cash out. I enjoy writing but I have other places I go for that including myLot. But one choice you might consider is articlegate.biz which is a new article site, different from any that you can put in a traffic exchange for views and income. I hope you'll enjoy your article writing despite the struggle.

I heard Triond is a scam, but I'm not one hundred percent sure. This is what I heard on the net. Some writing websites are genuine, but you probably earn pennies on the dollar for what you write. Some sites are actually legit for you to write on such as Yahoo Voice, but it needs good quality and original content that you won't reproduce elsewhere.

I don't think triond is a scam but I certainly think that it is becoming hard to get a lot of views for your articles because of the bad reputation they have from people spamming their articles.

if writing articles can earn money, that is a good idea.but from your description,i understand it.your article must attract some visitors to the site.that means the more viewers you have, you can get more payment.so you must think more about how to attract more views, that is the key to the question.

I did had a reasonable success with writing on Helium. However, recently, my account there was deleted because they said that one of my articles and its subsequent revision was having more number of grammatical mistakes. They did not give me a second chance. Since then, I have tried a couple more, but it is a bit harder now.

I write on Experts Coloumn, Triond and Shvoong. So far, none of them would be involved in "succeed cathegory" especially in Triond, becauseI'm not really active on it and site also paying low. Shvoong pay low too, but my earning had already increase and I have many referral, so hopefully the earning will be increase from month to month. I'm also newbie on EC. I heard this site pays well, so I hope I have my luck on it. Some of my friend had already succeed with their writing site and there are many person who do the same. we need extra effort to make same succeed...
