I do not usually switch off my mobile. But I make sure to put it in silent mode when I am at work. It is strictly forbidden to use mobile at my work as I work in a secondary school. I check my mobile after each period and reply to the miss calls in between the periods but not in a classroom. I prefer to be safe at work and avoid using mobiles when I am in a classroom. If someone has an urgent message to communicate I ask them to send me a message. What about you?

Hi, velentina!
I don't switch off my phone too. In fact, I can't remember the last time I switched off my phone, haha! When I'm at work though, I put it on silent mode. People usually have no problem leaving me a message when they fail to reach me, even in cases of emergency. I just check my messages every hour to see if anything important might have come up.

Hi Velen, when i was still working, i never switched off my mobile phone. I always put my mobile phone to silent. People who are in need to talk to me, can still mis-call my mobile phone. Same like you, i will always check on my mobile phone whenever i am free and reply to the person who call me. When it is not urgent, i prefer to send message to the sender. By doing that way, i am saving on my mobile phone expenses as well. I will only call when it is urgent and necessary to call on the phone.

Hello there Velentina. I also don't switch off my mobile phone when I'm at work. Even though our boss doesn't like us to use our phone during our working hours, he still doesn't ask us to turn them off. We are still free to check our text messages and phone calls when it's our break time. I only put it inside my bag and I make sure to it that it's also in silent mode. It's a bit bothering and scary when I would hear my phone ringing so loudly or something. It could also disturb some of my co-workers so I always make sure to it that it's silent. I also discipline myself in using my phone. I only really open it when it's my break already. I don't want to be caught by my boss using it again just like what happened before. I just send messages or call some people when I'm really free to do it, that is, when I'm not teaching any of my students. Happy myLotting. :)

I wouldn't turn it off because there's a purpose I can bring my phone in the office. Other staff are not allowed to bring in their phones, and have to leave those in their lockers. I just turn it on silent mode and vibrates when there's a call or message. However, I wouldn't take unnecessary calls when I'm working. I'm always very discreet about using my phone at work, and limit it to business use only.

I never turn on my cellphone unless I'm pissed off with my boyfriend. Haha. It's really not necessary to turn it off while at work. In fact I think it could help a lot if your phone is always on, to check on your schedule, meetings and etc. Well cellphone has a lot of use, and we should know how to maximize it. Thanks

We are not required to turn off our mobile phones. We even don't set the silent mode. After all, we don't work in a strict company that don't allow using the mobile phones when you are working. Sometimes the phones can be personal or business.
I love China

I leave my phone on while I'm at work... Matter in fact, it's one of the requirements... My work heavily relies on communication & they need to get in touch with me on moments notice... I work as a translator & I'm not in my office all that often but even the times when I am, it's just easier for hem to call me on my cell phone...

I am still a college student but I personally switch off my mobile phone when I have it with me during classes, and if there is really an important message or call that I need to receive, I'll just put it to silent mode, just like what most teachers would instruct their students. The funny thing is, some students does not comply with this, thus they cause minor to major disturbance when their phones suddenly ring. Lastly, most of the time, I just leave my cellphone at my boarding house, because I usually can't attend to any call or message when I am at school.

Same here, i mostly work from home. but when I'm too busy or I'm sleeping, i prefer to keep my cell phone on a silent mode, then to switch off.
Also I'll tell my friends, in case they want me to communicate with me, i too ask them to send message.
i can't work, with my cell phone ringing all the time.

If I am in a meeting then I keep my mobile on silent without vibration ON. And other times when I am in office I will keep my mobile ON with low volume. So, that when it rings it shouldn't disturb others. Speaking on mobile is not prohibited in my office.

I don't switch off my phone nor put it in silent mode unless when i am sleeping. This makes me contactable all the times since you don't know when important things may pop up. I am not sure about teachers but i do remember my teacher picking up his call halfway when he is teaching so whether it is allow or not, i have no idea.

I think putting the mobile cell phone to off totally defeats the the purpose of the mobile phone. If there is some emergency or something you would not know when it is off. It is better to put it on silent mode. I never switch off my phone unless and until I have no charger and it is on law battery. Have a wonderful day ahead.

Well,I don't switch off my phone ever.I put it on silent if I have something important to do.Sometimes,I put my phone on silent even when I go to sleep.I'm not closing it because I don't want certain situations to happen, like when a person tries to contact me,but they get the message that my phone is closed. If I see somebody calling and I can't answer I will wait until the appropriate moment comes. If that doesn't come,I will end the call. That way, they will know I have my phone on,but I am unavailable.

For work, I tend to also put my phone on silent mode. I have been in situations where I didn't receive messages or calls from my friends and family while my phone was turned off. Sometimes, I do check my phone during my lunch breaks, but I only do that if I am expecting someone to contact me. Generally, it's just nice to have a cell phone with me if some emergency occurs.
