We know to read book is beneficial for humans. But the research workers say reading book also beneficial for health. To remain deep in a novel or in a book then you will remain healthy, specially it is much beneficial for mental health. Neurologist Barones Susan said, reading books regularly helps to keep concentration for long time. Moreover thinking capability also develops. At the same time it creates good effect on overall health. Neuroscience professor of Magdalen College under Oxford University John Stain said, when we remain deep in a good book then we only think of the subject and the consequences and that is important for keeping mental health well. On the the other hand it is found in a recent published article at the Archive of Neurology Magazine of California University : if brain remains active by reading book then brain become boosted which helps to prevent alzheimer.

I've read this somewhere that reading a book and doing some puzzles can help avoid Alzheimer's but with your information about being a great contributor in making the brain healthy is quite new to me. I never really saw it that way before in relation to health. Thanks for the information.

While I agree with the idea that reading books help sustain mental health, I also engage in reading because I think it is fun. For the most part, I enjoy reading novels because it's engaging for me to read different types of stories. I usually read sci-fi/fantasy novels because it presents the possibilities of different realities, dimensions, or parallel universes. When I am not reading novels, I reading magazines or technical books. Generally, I have a lot of interests because I want to enhance my knowledge of various subjects. For me, I am happy when I read something that engages my mind to think.
