I love to travel. If I could just wander from place to place, and explore the neighborhoods, cultures and make new friends and do nothing else - it would be a perfect world. I have been wondering where to go next, what to visit, what to see and when to go and I have been thinking where I have been and what I have seen and who I have met along the way. And I have come to the conclusion that through all my travels, it is not the where and the when that has meant the most to me but it is the WHO- all the wonderful new friends I have made and encountered and how much I have enjoyed that. With those thoughts in mind I remembered this quote: "A journey is best measured in friends rather than miles." -Tim Cahill

Oh, how true. My husband was a truck driver and when we got remarried I went with him in the truck and we stayed out for about 6 months. It was great! Seeing new places, things and people. Of course, being on the road you see a lot of different people, but occassionaly we would run into people that my husband knew and we became friends.

Oh very true enjoythejourney. There are good and bad people every where you go. I'd never been to any more than maybe 3 or 4 states before this. So I got to see places and scenery I had never seen before, such as the bayous. Experienced new foods, like a crawdad omelet. That's one of many topics of a book I could write and come to think of it all my experiences would relate to all the people that came in and out of my life. Mainly all the jobs I've ever had were dealing with people, nursing home, motels, bars and a Residential Manager of a group home with developmentally challenged individuals,so I would definitely have alot of stories with inter reacting and having/making friends from different areas of life.

How fun. What an adventure that must have been. I don't know about the long hours on the road but the seeing new places and watching all the people must have been interesting. Sounds like a good topic for a book.

I am just beginning to travel again after many years of not being able to travel. I am getting better at it. At first, it was extremely stressful but I am beginning to learn how to travel all over again. It is getting easier with each trip. But I have lost so much time. I am hoping to go to New Orleans September 18th for the AARP Convention. My whole trip is booked. Do you think that all will be cool in New Orleans by then? I have had some great times at the AARP Conventions meeting new people, all having a wonderful time. In February, I am going on my very first cruise. And there are so many other places to see and people to meet.

Sounds like fun. I think it will be warm in NO but maybe not terribly hot. I am not sure. I am in Texas and it is still making it up to 100 here a couple of times a week. A cruise sounds great. Have fun!

Very true words by Tim Cahill. This fact I guess must have been experienced by everyone of us that we even love visiting the most hostile place if we are with our friends. I can say from my experience that even my worst journeys turned out to be the most memorable ones just because of the friends I was accompanied with. Also now when I am arguably at one of the most renowned college of my country, my this phase my this journey is not liked by me just because I do not have any one to experience it along with me.

Well, you never you know who just might meet during this phase of your life. It may be a friend you make for life, one just never knows and that is one of the fun parts of new experiences. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your journey.

I love to go around the world too. i have seen very less places but in my heart I want more. I have wanderlust in me and the day I have enough to go around everywhere, I will go. I have not heard of that quote before but it is a good one. Good going. Have a wonderful day ahead.

I love the word wanderlust. I think it fits us travelers just perfectly. We were meant to explore the world and all its wonders. Thanks for sharing.
