President Obama Visiting My Town

During his last campaign trail he visited my town as well. When it was all said and done and he left we were still holding the bag we had to pay our local police for additional security, the blocking of roads that the president was going to take, the sheriffs had to call in extra deputy's to help out as well. Now you have to understand that my town is not the best by no means and its having money problems but what town is not. When the President came to my town last time we had to pay all that extra money to have him here. We have had to lay off people that have worked for the city for most of their adult life they have cut funding to keep things open and running. We had to beg local business to keep the free water features running in our park for the kids on hot days. We could not afford to have him visit the first time and now here we are 4 years later and in worse shape than we were 4 years ago. I sent him a letter begging him to not come to my town as we can not afford to host him here. He has not responded and he is scheduled to be here sometime today. So just like I asked him I want to know are we going to be holding his expensive bag again? Do you have any situations like that where some one on the campaign trail has chosen your town to visit and left you holding their bag of expenses? I would prefer if he just skipped us to be honest I dont need to hear his lack luster promises that wont ever happen just like before. How do you feel about this?

I think it's crazy that the town have to foot the bill. The goverment should pay it. IT's nice that he visit small towns but they should pay for it. Just my thought on things.

I don't think that the government should have to pay either as in the long run its still me the citizen that has to pay. I feel that if your on your campaign trail you should have to fund any additional security your require out of your campaign fund. That is truly messed up what he did in Austin. Some one needs to make him accountable for these situations that he causes.

I don't think Obama has been here yet. I do remember in better times when Clinton was here as President and then Later when George W. Bush was here. Both were here more than once. It was much better when Bush came because he was always on time for everything and so a least his visit could be planned and the traffic problems, etc. could be predicted. When Clinton came he was always late then would get even later on each thing he did in town so any planning was all messed up and that added a lot of extra expense.

I think that the thing that got me the most was that this time around if you wanted to see him speak you had to buy a ticket. I am sorry but when it comes down to the seeing the president speak I would not pay for that if it was to save my life. I would rather die than spend my hard earned money working in the private sector that is doing so well. lol. I just feel that the whole thing is a waste of time I mean oh yea I get to listen to more promises that he wont keep while having to pay those extra expenses and heaven forbid being able to put food on my table.

I feel bad for any locale that has to host a presidential visit. After spending some time living in DC and having to wait through a presidential motorcade, I know how much of a pain it can be!

The blocking of the roads is what gets me the most. I had to drive an hour out of my way just to go around all the road blocks it was a pain in my back side that is for sure.
