How many shirts do you have in your closet?

At the Requiem Mass for the late Secretary Jesse Robredo, his wife Leni was asked to speak, by way of response, to all the countless narration about her husband, all of them good tales of kindness and selflessness. The beauteous widow said her husband would feel uncomfortable with all the accolades, and the pomp and pageantry of his funeral. Yet, she asked her husband to allow it, just that one time. Atty. Leni Robredo did not speak of the achievement of her fallen husband, instead, she spoke of how he fixed the leak in the water pipe, changed the busted light, and every thing else that needed to be done in the home, the weekend before he died. Atty. Leni also recalled how her husband quipped, after arranging his numerous new t-shirts in his closet, all of which were gifts on his birthday, that God will get angry with him already (for having one t-shirt too many.) Yes, I believe in that philosophy, that the closet must contain only the clothes we wear, the number of which must just be enough that when we change, there is a fresh one to wear. Gosh, considering I have a shirt and a blouse in one hanger, and I think I have around twenty hangers in my closet, I also have one shirt too many. Sigh!

I have almost uncountable shirts and dresses in my wardrobe... I actually have given away some to my sister, some to doantion and thrown away some very old ones but I still have a lot in my closet... I don't like to just donate or throw away clothes, because I feel like I am abandoning them so I would rather giving them to my sisters, whether she likes it or not, it is her choice.

Clothes have no feeling, mermaidivy. It is good of the clothes are used by other people, at least, these are not rendered useless. I do hope your sister likes your clothes.

My Mommy tosses her clothes to me, as we have the same built. Gosh, I become the envy of the churchgoers. My Mommy jas a fashionable taste. Lately though, I buy my own, the simple wear I am comfortable with.

I do have a lot of blouses and shirts and some of them are rarely used. Now I'm feeling guilty. If only I could do something about it and make sure that I just have the enough number of clothes to wear and not piled them all up. The guilty feeling is there especially when you see others have the same clothes week in, week out and are happy about it.

penrockerchic, have you seen Spiderman 2, well, the bug has only two sets of wear, and he even has a problem deciding which one to wear, ha ha. Start giving the ones you don't like anymore, and soon enough, you will have new ones again.

Yup, I watched that and found that to be funny in a way. And yes, I did give some of my clothes away. Good thing, I have a lot of cousins and nieces who wouldn't mind getting some of my clothes. Some clothes just really looked good at first but when I wear them, I don't seem to like them anymore. I've got some great looking clothes that aren't my size anymore and just had to give them up since I've gained a lot of weight too fast when I started my desk job. There were even a few times that my mom had to be the one to give some clothes away since some of those clothes are just stocked up somewhere in the closets at home. I didn't actually mind that at all.

Hello Eileen, I don't have that much tshirt in the closet, am not stylist and no addict to shopping. besides, I prefer a simple life and simple wear. but I do have to buy clothes since they become rusted or not so good in color after years of wearing them. Men, the only thing i really haven't done is fix the damn roof! i just can't find the damn hole that's causing the freaking leak

Knight, I love to wear faded shirts, too. And my daughters who are quite grown up, wear, for jogging, the t-shirts they had since second grade. Hmmm, I've never been up a roof, neither do I know how to determine if the corrugated iron roof holes are in need of patching. What about putting sealant on all holes?

Hi, From time to time I always take stock inventory of the things in my closet, segregating those I often use and making a pile of those I do not use for longer than two months. I really believe in the saying that the things that one cannot use belongs to somebody else so I would dispatch them to another household, neighbor or relief center as the case may be.

We hold the same belief, and let's hope someone will be a little less cold tonight because of a discarded shirt we didn't use anymore anyway.

I never got a chance to see the Requiem Mass for the late Secretary. Only bits and and selected pieces on TV news shows. Wow! He was really something, wasn't he? Really unique and humble.

He was a good man, one who stood up for what is right, and one who was not afraid of anyone. He showed his people the ease in being a simple man. A mayor for eighteen years, and he dwelt in an apartment and rode on public buses? He was even his family's weekend handyman. I hope the people remembers him in their hearts, and history gives him a place in the books, as one Filipino exemplary for being man for others.

mylene, society had made us believe that people look at us and see the make-up of our faces and the clothes we wear, that's way many need to buy new clothes every week. I have always believed that when I go meet people, they wait for me, not my clothes.

I think this is one candid inside look at who Jesse was in the eyes of her wife and family. I guess it is really different point of view from being a Mayor and a DILG Secretary to being an ordinary but ideal husband. But in reality those two Point of views are just the same when we see him work and play with family and his career.

When everything is said and done, Jesse Robredo would just be described as the simple person who kept the faith.

i actually have less shirt.. every now and then when i arrange the closet, i would see which shirt i do not use and which pants i do not use..and i would then have my mom or dad bring it to the province and give it my cousins and those who need it. The last time i last cleaned it was just over the summer, i checked which i do not need as well as those of my husband and my kids. I have read now stories about how Robredo was a very good person, i hope somehow he is in a better place now and smiling upon the people he loved.

He went to the confessional every other week, and I do so twice or thrice a year. Am sure Jesse Robredo is in the company of saints and angels. I'd like to be there, too, in heaven, I mean, one day.

I have lots of blouses and T shirsts, but considering that a lot of them are over 20 years old and I still use them, I donĀ“t mind. Noone would be interested in them, not even if I gave them away. Yet I use them happily.

No problem with that, so long as you use them still. I'd like something new every six months or so, though, for my photo album's sake.

Rule of thumb is, if you have not used that shirt for the past three months, you have to five it away.

i also saw the eulogy of the beautiful wife of Sec. Jesse. She said that he was given a lot of signature shirts on his birthday and told his wife that God will be angry because of the many shirts he has. I too have been giving away my shirts to my cousins and some people. especially the shirts or clothes that I dont wear, i dont like to stuff my closet with a lot of things that I cant even wear. it makes me happy that I have only less and I can also give out to some to make them happy

Kudos to that katrina. If you have some more to give, there are many displace people who need clothing. The networks are accepting. It's the least we can do, to our deprived brothers.

Perhaps there is someone good in math in your household, counting to a hundred is easy enough, even to a couple of hundreds. After that, am sure you wouldn't want to use the old clothes anymore, do you?
