while watching the news in the local channel. i heard that making sand as souvenir in boracay beach is prohibited. the news says that the tourist are prohibiting them whether local or foreign to get sand from the famous beach in boracay and used it as souvenir. the reason according to the authority says that the sand is slowly decreasing and the penalty is 2,500 pesos and an imprisonment of 6 months.

Yeah I saw that one posted in the boats that ply from and to Boracay Island. But then I saw someone selling this small bottles with the sand there and brightly decorated. We even bought some and was able to get it out of the island without being noticed. I think they are not that strict yet especially when it is about souvenir items being sold in there.

Yeah this law was implemented years ago and yet people still try to do that by putting those sand in a water bottle and hide it somewhere.
It's such a shame. Someday we won't have Boracay to boast anymore, not only because of the sand, but because of how the island has been commercialized.
