As technology evolves,we find that many many objects in our house are conveniently replaced by more hi-tech devices. We replaced our house phones with mobile phones,we replaced most of the desktop computers with laptops. We are replacing books with PDF's
From my point of view,it's good that books are replaced with computerized supports, because there is no need of killing so much trees. The downside of it is that I can't really enjoy reading it,because I can't stay that relaxed, because being a computer,it makes my eyes and my head hurt.
So,my friends,what's you opinion?What would you choose between a book and a PDF?Why?

You are right. Now technology is dominating each and every walk of our life. But so far as reading books is concerned,I prefer to remain backward.I mean,I like to read books in their traditional form.Buying, reading and keeping printed books is a pleasure in itself.I don't like to read them in PDF format as long as they are available in printed form.I have been a book lover since my childhood and my own home library is my choicest place.

There is something that makes reading plain, regular books more OK,more enjoyable.
I too was used used to reading books in the paper form, turning pages with my hand, folding a paper to know where I am.But technology takes care of theres.I am starting to become a fan of the PDF because they are easier to attain, and they are environment friendly.

Book is the way to go if you are really interested in the content and willing to spend a lot of time reading it. Anyway, books are more enjoyable to read in my opinion and i can read it slowly and focus more on it. I only use PDF file when i cant find the book available outside. It is just not the same feeling when reading a book and a PDF.

I use to get this feeling of when I read a PDF I am more in a hurry. It's like I know I can do something else with the computer and tablet and hurry up to finish reading. This is disastrous on my understanding of a book.It can happen to me to read a page or two,but not to stick in my memory. So them I find myself in the position of reading again.Usually, this doesn't happen with regular books.

PDF's on a tablet are fine, because well it is easy to carry around it is easy to use can have several books in one little tablet, some allow for highlighting and making notes but books still have that great feel, they are not dependent on electricity and the don't have the constant glare. Since most paper mills have tree farms - they plant hundreds even thousands of trees which they allow to grow and cut and replant constantly like farming something else - reduces the amount of natural forest that is at risk. But as PDF books become cheaper then the paper version (hard cover or paperback)it is not surprising that it is replacing the traditional book in popularity.

There are certain days that i would be reading a lot but I prefer reading a book than the e-books which we have now. I have a poor eye-sight and staring on the monitor too long is just impossible.

Hi,
I don't like to read book on computer. Reading real book is a different feeling. I feel comfortable with reading a real book. We can feel the book when we take it into our hand and it is very comfortable to read book lying on sofa or itting on the chair in the balcony.

I agree with you. Also, when I read a book on the computer I feel like I'm rushing somehow.I can't describe the sensation. Also,my mind keeps flying in another places, and there goes my concentration.I can be in that state for minutes or even hours, reading without remembering, and then wondering myself why I don't understand a thing. So I have to read all over, and that is more wasted time.

It has to be a book for me. There is just nothing like a good book! I fell in love with books at a very early age, loosing myself in the pages, also memories of reading to my younger siblings, seeing their little faces light up when it was their turn to turn a page. There is just something special about it. Technology seems to take the fun and that little bit of magic away from it.

In the past I didn't like reading the PDF ebooks because it was not so comfortable to read it from my mobile phone. I preferred to read TXT format ebooks much more. Now since I have a tablet, I like reading PDF ebooks because the tablet supports it well. Besides the screen size is bigger, and it is nice to read the PDF with words and also images.
I love China

I do read lots of pocket books during my earlier years. And it given enough time, I would still read pocket books. Though e-books becomes an internet option, I still prefer to read the pocket books over it. I think the e-book that I have read on my mobile phone e-book application is the HP series.

I would choose book -
I'm not a fast learner nor good at memorizing :D
So I use to make a notes or highlite some important words on the book manually which help me so well on memorizing it.
But yes PDF will save the trees - but the electricity will be wastefully used on something on that not help me as when I use the books :D

While I do like using computers and other electronic devices, I still prefer reading a traditional, paperback or hardcover book. I enjoy reading novels; however, when I try to read pdf files, I cannot look at it for very long. Unfortunately, my eyes strain very easily after maybe half an hour or so. Actually, I also have the same issue with 3D movies and using the glasses. Despite my weakness against reading books on the screen line by line, I am alright reading online articles that usually are short and have some space between the lines. Most people have adapted to reading e-books on their Kindle, e-reader, or tablet, but I still have trouble transitioning due to my eyes.

I prefer a PDF because I never want to read the whole thing, Just a part and I think thats its much easier and faster to find a Certain Part of Information in a PDF because you can easily scroll and even change the size of the Text which you can not do when reading a Book.

I would choose the PDF,because I pay attention to environmental protection,to read PDF files can reduce paper book printing, reducing trees use.
However,we should also pay attention to work and rest, and will also bring the joy of reading!
