Elfen Lied opening song

I didn't really like the anime Elfen Lied, because I didn't like the end at all and I didn't think that Lucy deserved another chance. However, I really liked the song, and I wanted to share it with you all. What do you think about the song?

While it was a few years ago, the song was quite memorable. Although it was in Latin, the tone of the song was very sad. I really could not listen to that song without always feeling sad. It resonated with me because I have listened to Gregorian chants before; this song resembled those type of chants, but rather than soothing, it sounded rather depressing. Well, after reading the manga and watching the anime of Elfen Lied, I felt even more sad because of how the story unfolded. I have read some horror stories and watched a lot of animated horror movies, but this series was something else.

You are right it's a sad song and the images of the opening too, if you notice, all starts with a tear coming out of an eye. Elfen Lied is not scary, it has a lot of gory and grotesque scenes, that's for sure, it's more the sad stories of the characters, and the vileness of human nature.
