Why is that schools are raising tuition for students. All they are doing is creating more debt for us students with these student loans.

It's mainly because they can. No one is really controlling them because everybody is focused on the economy and creating jobs. The main reason schools are raising tuition is because the government knows that cutting into education won't hurt them in the polls because most students don't care enough to vote or make a huge voting bloc. Students are outraged but not enough are angry enough to take it out on candidates that cut education.

I do think schools are raising tuition fees because some expenses are going high even books and the maintenance for the whole school is included. When I was still studying at college my tuition fee is only 12 Pesos per unit when I was graduating my whole tuition for two semester it would estimate to 600 Pesos only. It was a State University which is funded by the Government.

Yes, here in our country I guess they are raising tuition fees every year. I wish instead of raising them, they should decrease them so that students who belong to poor families can study too. Tuition fees are burden to parents and students. Happy mylotting.

Schools are raising tuition because schools are business and that business is making money. Schools, have endowment funds, and the bigger school the bigger endowment. Some schools have billions of dollars in reserves. They, however, do not use that money to lower costs. Also, schools know parents and kids go into debt to go to school and they can get that money via loans to attend school. Thus, they know if the kids parents can afford to pay they will and if they can't they will go into debt to get the money. They do this because the can. If you think school is about helping kids, that is mostly hype, it is a business just like everything else.
