Two days ago I arranged and folded our clothes then I noticed we have lots of old clothes that we do not like to wear anymore and they does not fit to me or to my husband. I decided to put all of them in the box and send it to my hometown this coming September so that it can be wear or use by my brother-in-law,sister or relatives since most of the clothes are still looks new and has a good quality, instead of letting them to sit/stay in our cabinet for along time which consume a lot of space better to give it away and reuse by other people. How about you my friends? How do you dispose your clothes? Do you also give them to you relatives? Thank you for sharing.

I usually donate my old clothes to the shelter and NGO's that help families who have been displaced by disasters.

Sometimes, I use to go to a store that bought used clothing, kind of like recycling. Don't really see a lot of those stores anymore. You could get together with friends and have a garage sale and make some money off your stuff and other things besides clothes that you don't need. Mainly I just donate them to women's abuse shelters or thrift stores, if I don't know of anybody that would want/need anything.

For me, I have to say that it really just depends. You see, my best friend has two daughters that are younger than my daughter and I will pass on the clothes that Kathryn has outgrown to her daughters when and where I can. With those things that won't fit her daughters in the near future, I will donate those clothing items to charity. With the things that I no longer want, I will also donate those to charity. However, if I do happen to have some really nice things, I will either sell those to a consignment store or have a yard sale of my own.

Just this month my wife did a lot of packing of the old clothes that my baby son does not wear as they do not fit his height any more and they will be given to the next baby child yet to come to this world. All of my baby son's clothes are still pretty good. When it is packed, it is a whole lot. I think that it is a good idea to give away some of the clothes that do not fit us any more and it is environmentally friendly as they can be reused by some other people. Thanks for your discussion. Take care, Bhebelen.

No none of my relatives will accept old used clothes, normally we give it to beggars and some organisations, you can find quilt makers here, they make nice looking quilts using them, for a small charge.. this we use in many ways..

I dispose my clothes primarily by selling them. This lessens the cost of buying new clothes and spending more. Sometimes I give out to charities.

Well, a lot of times if you can find people to pass on the clothes you no longer are interested in wearing, that is always a Good thing. I know many times I have passed on stuff, or tried selling stuff, passed out to the homeless, or donated to charity or Thrift stores. Most of the time when I am giving away something it is still in excellent condition or it would be thrown out for sure.

I just got rid of a whole bag of them..but I donate them to charity..I figure if they sit around here they are just taking up space and someone else can use them.

I do try to give them to relatvies, but seeming i am the smallest in the family at times i may finesomeone to give some tops too but thats usually about it. Bottoms i try to either make shorts of jeans or at least capris i can wear to work. I think its better that way, if there is a hole in them down low or are getting frayed i will see if i can find someone that can sew good and ask them if they can alter them for me. Now shorts i will try to take to a thrift or consigment store and let them deal with it.

I offer some clothes that are new but either are not my size or don`t go with my complexion to my family or my friends. But the rest of my clothes are not good enough to give away. Yet I use them at home if I like them a lot. I`m not interested in new hot stuff. I know what I feel comfortable in.

Used clothes are always welcome in the province, we also gave away some as donations during the recent floods when the kids were asked in there school to donate canned goods, bottled water, clothes and blankets as well as medicines.

Disposing those clothes can really clear up the clutter and it is indeed a worthwhile idea. I'm, for one, like to fix things, and through that, I tend to gather things that I no longer using. I usually gave it to the needy, the victims of calamities and also to my relatives just like your plan. Goodjob on that deed. Thanks

I donate clothes to family sometimes if they wear the sames sizes as I do. I have also donated to Goodwill and the Humane Society which has a local resale store. I recently decided to put my daughter's clothes that don't fit her anymore on a free site. I'm not sure if we're allowed to mention other sites here, but it's an auction site where everything is free. You use points that you earn to bid on different things. Sometimes, the seller will ask the winner to pay for shipping costs but they can't charge you for the actual item. I have earned a lot of points from that site and I have also won a lot of nice things as well. I just feel that if I'm not using something, I don't want it to go to waste so I either sell it to someone or give it away. As long as it's still in good condition and someone can use it, go for it! :)
