the other day i was rushed to the er with extream stomach pain, i have never felt any thing like it in my life. before i was taken to the er i had taken a tylonal 3 (sp?) and when that didnt work after 3 hours i took a flexerol. i ended up over dosing, i was shaking, couldnt move, sweating, i litterally thought i was going to die.
anyway after spending 8 hours in the er they told me i have a 3.5 cm cyst on my left ovary and possible appendicitus (sp?) they gave me vicodon and ibprofen 800s and sent me home.
i have never really been one for taking pain killers unless absolutly nessacary. i have been rotating between half a vicodon and half an ibprofen for pain but the pain is still there. i could take more of the meds, im allowed a whole one of each every 6-8 hours but id rather not take them if not nessacary.
any ideas on what i can do to releve some of the pain without taking more meds?

I think a surgical treatment is needed for the excision/removal of the cyst that maybe causing the abdominal/stomach pain. It is best to get your doctor's opinion regarding this matter. Painkillers would only give relief once in a while, but the pain would be intermittent as long as the source of pain is still, probably the cyst, still exists.

Hello michelland welcome to myLot. I have felt your pain I had a cyst on an overy when I was about 24. I had cramps so bad that that doubled me over. I thought I was going to die. I made a Dr appointment for the same day. but almost as soon as I got off the phone the pain went away. I almost canceled the appointment. but I kept the appointment and I'm glad I did because I had a cyst the size of a grapefruit. It could have burst at any time. I'm surprised that the Dr at the emergency room sent you home. The cyst can break at any will leak and as I understand that leaking is the cause of the pain and the need for surgery. My granddaughter had to have emergency surgery for appendicitis. She was in great pain and the Emergency room Dr told us her appendix were close to bursting. That could realy cause her to be really ill.

they arent sure if my appendix is really bad or not, they didnt do any tests on it, just said it might be and to watch for pain located in that spot only. i have had many cysts and none of them feel like this one does. i go back to the dr tomorrow to find out whats going on and what can be done.

So what do they have to say about the cyst and possible appendicitis? Didn't they do further test to really determine what caused your stomach pain?
I think if the stomach pain is chronic, then you must have to have it thoroughly checked up by a specialist.

cyst on your left ovary?
OMG .. I am sorry to hear that .
And you only were given by analgesia (Vicodon and Ibuphropen are both analgesia).
I suggest you to go to ObsGyn since your left ovary has cyst, dear!
And yes - don't take analgesia so much - the side effect of analgesia is causing the blood hard to coagulate when you're bleeding .
Please consult to ObsGyn soon to have second opinion about your medication :)
I hope you will be okay soon! ^^

with reference to your post, well, above all, prayer is the best answer. this is the best thing to do, that is to pray unceasingly. in your situation, God can only give you the proper and right medication. God is the best healer of all times.

Always try to avoid pain killers as they would definitely cause gastric irritation, gastritis, peptic ulcer and so on, which may they then add to the fire. Better immediately consult a physician, have a USG of the whole abdomen to see the site of leison. You may need an endoscopy to rule out peptic ulcer. The description of your pain points to the possibility of gall stones which is very common in fatty, fertile females of forty. So keep it also in mind. You may have a 3.5 cm cyst on your left ovary but the pain is probably not originating from it because in that case you might have developed either a torsion of the cyst or a haemmorhage within the cyst. And in both the cases, a laparotopic surgery is essential. So do not neglect even if you are now free from the pain.
