Well when you buy i computer for simple usage, not requiring an expert touch, this might be the ideal computer configuration, plus, it's one of the latest configurations.
Computers that has:
1. 4 - 8 Gb RAM
2. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with 2 gb LB cache
3. Stereo speakers
4. Nvidia GeForce 3d graphics card
5. 400 or more gb SATA hard disk
6. Bluetooth and ethernet ports
7. 64x optical DVD driver
8. 21' LCD monitor with printer and scanner

I think for normal purpose, 4GB RAM would be sufficient. C2D and i3 are of almost same price, so better try i3. Nowadays either 250GB or 500GB hard disk are found, so 500GB it should be. DVD reader/writer should be better. Good day!

I agree with MIMO 2 or 4 GB RAM is sufficient no need 8GB RAM and I think still 8GB RAM is not in market. Nice suggestion halfblo other configuration is good suggested by you.
