I've never been popular till my senior year of high school I've always been the awkward fat kid who wears loose clothes. In the summer before my senior year I decided that I could not let my high school experience end like this so I lost 25kg in 2 months, I started styling my hair all spiky and stuff and I got a part time job so I could buy branded fitted clothes. People just started warming up to me and pretty soon I found myself hanging around and having fun with different people and I didn't even know most of them but we always ended up laughing the night away. With my new circle of friends I started spending less time with my old friends, the ones who actually went out of their way to befriend me when everyone else didn't want to go near me. In college we all went to different universities to follow our own path and I tried to arrange a sort of get together with my pals but most of them didn't want to go some said they were too busy and I understand that but others din't reply at all. Then out of the blue someone comes over to my place and invites me to a party at his house, he was a close childhood friend of mine who chose to be my friend even though I was always alone in a corner hoping the other boys won't pick on me and not once did I talk to him in our last year of high school but there he was smiling at me acting like nothing happened. Now I'm trying to spend as much time as I can with my "old" circle of friends the ones who stuck by me through thick and thin. No pun intended :)

wow , so good, lost 25 in 2 months, yes, if we have a strong desire, we can definitely do it, all these weight consciousness and interest about our dressing and styling starts usually during high school, as thats the age , enter in teens. yes those who are with us through thick and thin are the real ones, i went through this phase, but what ever happened is good for me, i was able to recognize the real friends of my life, all the best

It was sort of a "crash diet" as my mom and teachers called it. I deprived myself of carbs and anything sweet I only ate fish, skinless chicken and fruits since I'm not a big fan of vegetables. And I started jogging twice a day, I continued with this routine throughout my senior year although because of classes I only got to jog once everyday.

I can relate to your story in some way. In high school, I was the awkward, nerdy kid who enjoyed sci-fi/fantasy novels, video games, and anime. While I am still those things, I gradually started joining various extra curricular clubs. I didn't join just to change my outlook on life. I also wanted understand if I could adapt with other types of people and if they could adapt with me. Although most of the people I met realized I was an awkward person, I did meet a few people who I have known for a good number of years now. In my experience, I learned that not all people are accepting of people who don't fit their social standards. If that's the case, then it's better to try to be their friends. If people cannot accept your who you are, they are not worth trying to befriend. Social cliques and popularity is not worth pursuing if it means changing your identity just to fit in. Even if I did try to act in a way the popular cliques accepted me to be, I would probably be miserable acting someone I am not. My true friends accept me for who I am and could not be more happy.
