I am learning how to become a good writer

When I was in college, I took up accountancy and then business admin. My English was neither so good nor so bad. I never really worry about not being so proficient in the language. But now I want to be a good writer, a good and hopefully one day a successful freelance writer. Writing, I find, is hard but it's very rewarding! I learn how to write creatively and I even force myself to re-write articles, a process that is called copywriting. To my surprise, when I look at my work, I find it's not so bad at all. I have the potential to be a good writer. I have even started offering my copywriting service, I rewrite sentence by sentence, making sure that I don't make my work sound too 'student-like'. And the best thing is I get paid. I have been paid several times now, wow, I feel good! I hope and pray, I don't give up easily because writing is a tedious, manual and takes long hours to complete especially for a newbie like me, but it's worth every second.

I think you are going to be a great writer because you are talented and hard working! You are doing so many things for improving your language!!! If you wanna improve it more just read a lot and try to retell what you have read! It really will help you too! Don't give up, you can do that! Wish you good luck!

Hi micha: I write when I have time and being a lawyer I need to work on my writing skills. I think that people can have the talent to write but with a good source of inspiration and if you keep practising you can improve and be a better writer day after day. ALVARO

Yes, it is true starsailover. Writers are creative people, just like artist, writers too need to be inspired before they can start a piece of good writing. I am glad I got a lawyer responding to my thread.

Hi, Micha! We share the same interest. I took up Dentistry in College but I wasnt able to pursue a career. Just about 2 years ago, I have become an article writer too for an Australian Web Development Company. I have always loved writing. I have noticed this when I was in High School. I kept a journal which I kept on writing until the day I gave birth in 1993. Writing has been my means of venting my feelings when I feel really sad or bothered. I am not much of a talker. I hate confrontations. And so whenever I feel like pouring out what I feel, I look for a piece of paper and write everything that I feel.

Same here jenny. At first I write to vent my feelings...it's a great way to relieve myself from stress and overcome depression. Then I start to think of a way to busy myself so that I don't spend too much time agonizing over the past (failure in career, family betrayal etc etc). I have also started a blog, it's everything about places of interest at my hometown. But I think it's still a long way for me...English is not my mother tongue language but thanks to the internet, I am able to learn fast.
